I wish the US would donate our chronic breeders to Japan.
Current did some 30 minute or 1 hour documentary on this recently talking about how Japan would rather develop robots to do the work than take immigrants or something similar to that.
By 2060 Japan will become bizarro New York.
It will be the melting pot of the world, everyone will be nice, and it will be a place of absolute prosperity.
Everyone will live in Hong Kong though and will commute by bullet train to Tokyo for work everyday.
They will complain about how it takes 43 seconds to get back and forth.
While the shut-ins and 2D nuts can be pretty awful, maybe some progress could be made by, you know, not being total dicks to them in the first place driving them to it?
Might take a long while. I know even here in the US there is a subset of geeks who consider sex as a huge test and they take it soooo seriously (pretty sure we've had threads about it on this site) that they're not even able to perform. Pretty sure you just tack on Japanese honor/shaming and that's all you need to create those shut-ins and 2D addicts.
Not saying the ladies are perfect, but there isn't much in this world that's going to make me just say "aw fuck it; pussy aint worth it for the best physical years of my life".
Seriously though, I'm first to admit I'm a weeb with yellow fever as you can probably tell from my FoD posts. However real Japanese girls aren't really high on the list of worldwide hotness. It'd be something like toptier asians > toptier white/euro > middle tier white/euro > middletier asians. Most people falling into the midtier obviously.
I wonder if the people who designed social security never thought that the population might decrease or something. Seems like its built to fail.
This is true. In fact as far as I can tell, unless you use your Working Holdiay Visa (in which you only get 1 in your lifetime for that country), you cannot even stay in Japan without a bachelor's at an accredited university. My sister is a good example, she was working in Japan some years ago using that, and she didn't have a university degree (just a college degree, from CDI college or something I think, something that's not accredtied), and even though her company wanted to keep her and she wanted to stay, immigrations wouldn't approve it.
I'm surprised he's run into a lot of foreigners who lie about having a degree, and that people get away with it is almost funny considering how much they crack down on foreigners in Japan. For example, they have a 24 hour hot line anyone can call and report anonymously if they believe that a foreigner is in Japan illegally, or is lying about their qualifications, etc. That's kind of excessive right? Who's gonna call at 3 AM and be like "BILL'S ONLY A HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE, GET THIS CHUCKLEFUCK OUTTA HERE!"? But I guess the option's available :\
Last time I was in Japan, birthrate was a major issue. It is and will be, I think, because the culture would have to change before it turns positive. That won't happen any time soon. Hence, major issue.
Young Japanese are emigrating. The kids, Japanese women in particular, are leaving the country in droves and never coming back. Women's fashion in Japan is all-foreign. They don't share their parents' attitude towards foreigners - rather, they are recognizing more opportunities abroad. Once they go off to study, they hook up, live their lives abroad, and forget about Japan. I have it on good local knowledge that the current preference among Japanese women is the foreigner.
This thread's already described the... interests of the older men. Everyone knows about that. But old perverts aren't population drivers - the kids are, and they're living abroad in growing numbers. Perhaps to escape the perverts?
The real killer though is xenophobia. First of all, you cannot immigrate to Japan. IIRC, most Western countries are shifting to declining population. But our countries don't run into this problem, because we allow a chunk of immigrants to cover the gap. In Japan, unless Japanese runs in your immediate family, you cannot become a citizen - full-stop. Forget it. You can get a work visa (1 year in your life, then GFTO forever), but the rules on citizenship are draconian. So, right off the bat, Japan's population will shrink assuming a "western" birth rate, because the government has straight-up blocked immigration.
Then you've got the cultural xenophobia - less in-your-face these days, but still very common. The fact remains, if you're 5'10 and white, that you stick out like a sore thumb. Sure, everyone is very friendly during your stay, but to the vast majority you don't even exist - until you're looking for the washroom. It's all done very passive-aggressive in Japan - big smile, friendly, even when you screwed up every manner in the book, nobody rages in your face. All smiles. But you know you don't belong, they know you know, and you know they know.
Seriously, I would love to visit Japan again. For a vacation, couple weeks, it's an awesome place with all sorts of cool shit, tourism up the ying yang, historic, AMAZING FOOD, the history of an island civilization removed from civilization.
But I would HATE to actually have to live there for an extended time like, say, years in Japan for a foreign business. Even if you took up the culture to the nth degree (spoke japanese, super-mannered, whole 9 yards), you'll always be the 5'10 white guy everyone has to be nice around because 'well that's what the rules say', and you know the rulebook too, so it's just a big culture wall your silly white weeaboo self can't break through. "Honoured guest" is like the best a foreigner can become, which makes great vacations but bad stays, if you catch my drift.
--------------------------------
What you're left with is a country where the kids are leaving wherever possible, the adults are way too busy with work to properly settle and have children, the government wants nothing to do with immigrants (and to an extent, neither does the populace). Is it any wonder that Japan is heading towards "Creepy Elder Island"?
Pave the way for us supporting troops, Abandon. We'll provide you with the necessary reinforcements: extra lube, more red bull, a sweat rag, and a few buckets of popeye's chicken and red beans and rice.
On a serious note, it goes back to what I said earlier. You couple Japan's absurdly stiff "traditionalism" and xenophobia and this is what you get. The youth will typically always eschew tradition in the face of globalization, so long as they aren't denied access to that globalization, like with religious fanatic families. You can try hard suppression, like China, or "soft" suppression, like Japan, but neither really works. As much as they probably love the thought of returning to the days of the shogunate, that era is long, long gone.
Yeah, I'm sure I'll have a great time being a 6'3" black guy. Should be a lot of fun. The good news is that since I'm said 6'3" black guy growing up in white suburbia, I'm already used to growing up feeling like the odd man out. It was never the kids my age, but their parents. God bless them for being so polite, but its just something you feel, and eventually, something you know.
I'm fully prepared for it, hence why my stay at Japan will be nothing but tourism, sake-drinking, sushi/sashimi/ramen-devouring, and hopefully, vagina-destroying.
Oh man, if them bitches be screaming over two inches I wonder how'd they react to my mandingo cock.
People are going to want to OTPHJ the shit out of you.
fuck japan and their terrible culture of shame, perversion, and superiority complex.
so much fucked up shit goes on but young white faggots that saw an episode of a an anime once go there and because people are nice to them, it's such a great place.
