Went 1/3 on Amodar, up to 0/15 on Light now. Don't have the fragment skill for recruiting but I have been using three feral links on Light alone. Yay for seven Lightning Crosses....

I'm pretty certain the Feral Link abilities only boost capture rate if they are the kill-shot, no?

My method is to queue up a full ATB bar of shit that I know will finish off a monster's last sliver of HP, and then trigger Feral Link so it actually has no HP left by the time the animation is in motion and my Feral Link is the last thing that hits it (since monsters are kept alive despite their HP if a Feral Link animation is active). Can anyone refute this working because it seems to have a tangible boost to my capture rate, but...you know... eyeballin'.

@Everyone: I've found this guide: http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps3/619315-f...i-2/faqs/63553 incredibly useful whenever I get stuck. It has information on pretty much everything. If it's not there i've been using IGNs FFXIII-2 guide which has pictures and stuff.

If you've been having trouble with the Captain Cryptic/Brainblast quizzes I have something for ya too: http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/fin...ers-guide.html that forum posts have all 417 questions answered, and they figured out all the luck based questions aside from "Pick a hand!"

    Good Hunting bitches.

My fucking Silver Chocobo is not casting Provoke, no matter what on Caius. This is pissing me off significantly because otherwise he just immobilizes Noel or Sarah with his fucking spam. Stupid game is fucking bugged, Silver Chocobo is just standing in the corner spamming fucking Steelguard doing jack shit.

Ya whenever I'm trying to recruit a monster I kill it with Omega's Feral Link, but I also try to get off as many as possible through out the course of the battle. According to the Piggyback guide:

"Using Feral Link abilities in battle increases Monster Crystal drop rates. The frequency at which you can use Feral Links is accompanied by a synchronization percentage displayed in the upper-right corner of the screen, with the effective value determined by the speed and accuracy of your button and stick interactions. This percentage acts as a modifier to the base probability that you will acquire a Monster Crystal in the post-battle spoils."

Then it talks about charging the Feral Link gauge faster with Cheer and accessories. The Monster Collector Fragment Skill provides an additional 20% boost to drop rates for Monster Crystals also.

Just did Light fight again for my GF since she's still pretty early in the game and that shit took fucking years since she only has like 250 mag on serah and 220 attack on Noel, was pretty hard to counter Cure spam Light does when killing Amodar at first, but I still managed to take him down after about 3 staggers. Took a whopping 27min to do that but thank god I got Lightning first try at least for her. Was fun and challenging fight nonetheless compared to what's on my file.

Forget SEN, just swapped in Chichu instead. Used Deprotect until it stuck, then just waited while Chichu beat on him with my finger on X to switch to Tortoise for Inferno. Immediately after Inferno, went into Full out damage and wiped him out. Took maybe 30 seconds total, so fast. Got to love how to game shits all over trying to use a tank and encourages you to just go balls to the wall.

Also, does anyone else hate the 'Wound' mechanic? Not only does it reinforce the whole 'Fuck strategy just end the fight as fast as you can' but there is like no way to cure it besides spending gil on those potions to cure 100 wound. 2k gil just to heal 1k of wound is retarded...it's like they just threw in this dumb 'ailment' for no reason.

Just lvled bunch of mobs I've had and infused Light, she's got 100 more dmg than Blue Chocobo now so gonna be using her. Glad they made her a Rav cuz if she was COM she probably be outdone by Chichu.

Well I think its just Caius thats immune to provoke, but ya after a certain point sent is pretty useless, except for a x3 sen tortoise quick switch. Wound was kinda weak because I had my serah have the grimoire thing which made the potions remove pretty much all wound damage.

Oh that Grimoire hat thing makes the wound cure all missing HP? I ended up having to use an Elixir on the 'last boss' because I had like 500 HP left on each of my team. Wound is so stupid. Sometimes you are wounded like immediately at the start of the battle and then other times it seems like you are not wounded for so much longer, it seems to happen randomly and for a lot of HP at once instead of small amounts over time.

Is there really any purpose to wounding enemies? I have never seen Saboteur's wound effect deal enough damage to significantly affect an enemy's max HP... not to mention I have rarely fought monsters that fully heal themselves for it to even matter.

It works just like it does on you. I was taking off maybe an eighth of Caius' Max HP during the first fight when I was trying to do SEN/SAB/MED

Useful against Behemoth (fully heals) and some enemies with Cure spam. Might be useful against some versions of Caius (with the Paradox Fragment skill, he has two lives; unfortunately Wound does too little damage usually though).

For the most part though, you'll likely deal more damage faster than they cure (which makes Wounding not as useful as it could be).

Implying you don't need strategy to end the fight as fast as you can?

It's there to avoid simply healing to full and turtling every fight effortlessly. Because that's a shitty strategy.

That was the first thing that came to mind... but I can't imagine it's first form taking so long that wound effects hit it enough to make me go "oh man, I'm glad he got only 96% of his HP back" when he stood up. Plus, they become so easy to damage after that, it's just meh...

Except you're wrong because you can remove wound with potions. It's just a shitty mechanic.

If you damage exclusively with SAB the wound damage should be all or close to all of the damage it's taken.

    I love SEN/SAB/MED!
I use it a lot for recovery and setting debuffs in.

As some have mentioned its pretty useful in protracted fights where enemies heal. I typically don't use it as a primary weapon but the damage does add up when ure trying to land Poison and it sticks. Incidentally there's like a tier 2 of SAB abilities that only monsters can learn that does more damage

Yet you were implying that the price is too high to use them effectively. You can overcome the mechanic but there is a cost involved in being able to be a shitty player.
