I'm 99.9% sure that the guest from VI is Ultros

Either way the NPCs in Serendipity mention that there's a new area being built there with more stuff to do so maybe they'll actually expand the area in the future and have more things we can buy with all these coins?

I'd shit my pants for Kefka or Ultros really, I don't know if I could pick which I'd want more. FF6 is by far my favorite FF so just the thought of this gets me pumped.

According to someone who tested on the GameFAQs boards, the buff extension seems to be +100 magic = +1 second on the single target buffs.
They hadn't tested -ga buffs where it might actually be useful, but I don't think going all-Mana for a SYN is such a hot idea.
SYNs also don't really need much in terms of infused abilities, so the red-locks Sazh has aren't too much an issue.

The thing with the Sazh DLC is that you can do it pretty much as soon as you reach the Historia Crux, basically handing you a pretty decent SYN with Item Collector at the beginning of the game. He also come with Endless Blessings towards the end of his Crystarium, meaning he can eventually get every single SYN ability. Seems like Sazh is a good third slot if you're farming early- to mid-game. The biggest problem with him IMO is that his Feral Link deals damage instead of bestows buffs.

The real benefit to the DLC is the obscene amount of coins you can make in poker.

That is a very nice guide thanks for the link.

I liked the DLC (if only for Chronobind like some other people here) and the added little bonus of a Chocolina backstory, but overall kinda meh. I expected Sazh did more before he got to AF500 than just play some games :/

Wasn't Chocolina's identity already revealed before this DLC? I remember a fragment (probably from Serendipity) pretty much spilling that right out.

Seeing Chocolina troll Sazh was a nice touch too.

Overall, lackluster DLC. It's what I was expecting, but disappointed on how unbearably simple it is.

Flanitor or Green Choco as medic? Flanitor is a pain in the ass to level due to the material requirements and I just realized it caps at 40 whereas greenie caps at 99.

I use green choco personally, just be sure to infuse him with a flanitor to get esuna II and esunada

I like Flanitor for his Feral Link. Then again, medic pets aren't terribly useful in general. The accessory that doubles potion healing makes medic healing more or less obsolete, which means medic is nothing more than Esuna. MED/MED/SYN or SEN will cover you in Esuna situations, or you can just pack remedies since money doesn't mean anything in this game, and using pet slots on SYN, RAV, COM, or SEN is more effective imo.

The problem is that once you get Durable Collector Catalogs you'll want them on at least one character (both if you're farming gil from Raspatil) all the time and they have 100 accessory cost.

Both Noel and Serah are subpar MEDs for their own reasons, so I always keep a MED monster in my paradigm pack.

I've never found a use for SAB and SEN pets instead (except for Serah vs Caius paradox ending battle).

A good SYN with offensive buffs and enspells is pretty much a must have in my opinion.

Overall, I either go with COM/SYN/MED or RAV/SYN/MED depending on the situation.

I'm not sure why you would be farming money in this game, so the Durable Collector Catalog doesn't seem like a worthwhile use of those slots on your main. Stick it on the AI character to get the drop boost, and use 25 points on your main for the potion accessory... I don't even remember the name of it.

As for SEN, I feel like it's stronger in this game than it was in FFXIII. In the original I only used SEN for Tortoise to eat stuff like turtle Ultimas. In FFXIII-2 it seems like a decent number of monsters hit hard enough to make COM/RAV/SEN and RAV/RAV/SEN viable options for offense. Clearly, this doesn't apply to trash, only to bosses. For the Rasp fight I tended to go use SEN when there were sets of 3 adds out at a time, and then I would only have to do any healing after all the adds were cleared. For Yomi, Tortoise is obviously useful for Whirl Wind (or whatever it's called), also SAB/SAB/SEN after barrier comes down made it so healing was never needed until he puts his shield up while being able to stick at least deshell/deprotect/poison every cycle. For all these examples I'm using Silver Chocobo infused with HP+, Mediguard, and both phys/magic damage reduction as my SEN.

I agree with you that SAB pets have no place in this game.

so i tried skimming the thread and cant find any info anywhere, how do i get chocos in archlyte, so i can get to the other half of the zone?

also, how do i unlock oerba 400af, yaschas 100af, and sunleth 400?

Examine all the cactuar statues, you don't need choco to get to the other half of the zone though. Turn on dusty weather and look south from where the weather changer device is and you'll see a little dust tornado south of you, run out to it and use mog, it's a yellow cactuar statue that teleports you to the other half of the zone.

There are a few statues on that side you have to examine before you can unlock choco.

IF you need the Graviton cores for the Story line you only need 5 not all 7 btw

But getting all 7 is good for 160 frags
