capturing mobs can be increased by killing with a feral link (thats what the synch % is for btw, it doesnt affect the ability itself), and a fragment skill that increases the crystal droprate. 5 starring may affect but i doubt it.

green chocobo is better than flanitor imo. its a lot faster and has more HP to survive in times of need. However, Flanitor does have Hyper Rescue, which is the only instant heal Feral Link around. The rest that heal only heal for very little and predominantly give buffs..

to those worried about perfect game and getting adornments, you should probably know that the basic adornment you get depends on the number of live triggers you answer in the scenario, not the quality of them. However, there is a 2nd reward that comes from answering them with funny answers.

so New Bodhum for example.. answer 5 live triggers or more = Lebreau's Olive Tattoo. Answer 5, with at least 3 as funny answers = Golden Flower.
you can always do time reversal and get all of them. also after defeating the last boss, you can use the Paradox Scope fragment skill to give you a varying set of live trigger option choices. some of which are funny.

edit: which last boss? theres 4 battles in total

Srsly? Look at your controller. It's only Red if "O" is an option or "B" on 360 I think. Left or right depends on what question number you are on, 1-5 is left and 6-10 are right iirc. Heads or Tails is the only tricky one, I assume its literally 50-50.

I figured the red one after some time, was also thinking about left/right like you said but I often didn't pay attention to question number And I had problems in general - there was just a ton of question I didn't know answers for and couldn't find them on the net when I finally started to search for them. Generally was an... interesting experience

The manual says "The faster you complete the button combo, the more effective the attack will be, and the greater the odds of recovering a monster crystal from the enemy."

Also, is it normal that Chocobos are the only monster crystals I can get duplicates of? (I'm assuming it is and it's more tied to chocobo racing...)

i guess that too then, but 5 starring does nothing cos your monsters are caught in battle, not after the battle is done.

    also yea about the chocobos

After 3hrs trying to kill the final boss finally did it.

The ending...was cryptic as hell. It actually excites me for the dlc.

Lol took you that long? Only took me ... oh wait, pretty damn long.
    Spoiler: show
The difficulty really scaled up far too much versus the world. I was 5 starring everything on the way there and then bam ... oh shit wtf is this. My friend who beat it this morning said the difficulty went from "Walk in the Park" to "Hits like a truck" in Chapter 6, but I really didn't see much until the final boss. Took me 4 tries to get it right. Ended up having a Med/Sen/Med set up and it worked wonders. I just think my Com and Med were just too far underleveled/misleveled (both around 65 using Cicthu and Cait) because they would get pummelled. All I have to say is Kweh is awesome for that last boss, go go blue choco. I had 3.5 lvl 99s, just makes me feel like they wanted you to complete a lot more of the side stuff before trying to win.

They better have actual content dlc sooner rather than later for the game though. If we do not see story continuation DLC in the next several months I will be really disappointed. They truly did set up some nice DLC opportunities outside of continuing the story. With Snow's journey and Sazh's there are definitely some good stuff they can open up with. My only worry is that this is SE and they have renigged on promised DLC before.

The final boss took me 42 minutes to beat... but it was my first time experiencing it so I was just trying out different things as the fight progressed. A lot of times I got to the point where I had the main guy staggered, then just as I was about to attack, he pulled back and one of the side enemies came back. Thinking back, If I killed both of them at the same time, I would have more time for the main boss, but I didn't think of it until I was already dealing the final blow heh.
The only thing to realize about that final boss is that you HAVE to switch to a SEN/SEN/SEN or SEN/SEN/MED party if you want to survive the megaflares (especially if you were underleveled like me)... other than that it's just a matter of enfeebling/buffing and REV/COMing everything.

As for DLC, I really hope it'll be stuff that are worthwhile, like playing with Snow and Lightning, or at least witnessing what happens to them during the course of the game... Sazh too I guess, I just don't care much for him.

    More on the ending:
    Spoiler: show
I don't think I've ever witnessed an ending as twisted as this one. Serah dies, Mog dies, chaos unleashed, warrior goddess Lightning claims the throne, it's just complete disaster. I felt like the entire story was for nothing. Funny because I never thought of Caius as the true villain, if anyone was to blame it's Etro...and now apparently Lightning.

Can also do the retry trick for catching monsters, but this only works if there's more than one monster in the battle, I usually mostly do it for more rarer pets. For those not aware of retry trick, simply start the battle, kill the monster you're trying to catch, and if you don't see the crystal drop after you kill it, hit retry and do battle again til the crystal drops, then finish the battle normally when you see it and you'll have your monster at the end. This saves a ton of time when going for the more rare encounter monsters, but that's only if there's another monster in group with it sadly, for single rare monsters this doesn't work, obviously.

Once again spoilering just so if people dont want to know ...
    Spoiler: show
I tried the "kill both at the same time" thing. It can seriously come back to bite you in the ass. If you have 2 up when he Megaflare's it turns into Teraflare. If you have all three its Exoflare and it just kicks the ever living snot out of you. The best thing to do is to burst one down and then heal up and take the next one. Make sure you are semi healed up as you kill the second one so you dont get insta-screwed with a Curse+Dark Flame combo while you are dazed from the Curse. Its not completely worthless to have an "AOE" specific Paradigm for when the Seeds come out, but its not all that required.

I didn't run with a SEN pet since like Bresha ruins. I do not suggest using SEN/SEN/MED unless you have something with more HP than Cait. I did S/S/C and went to town. I found SYN/SAB almost completely worthless for the entire game especially in this encounter where your buffs would routinely be pushed off with debuffs.

Like I said earlier, I really did not feel like I was underleveled until I got into the encounter. They were designed quite well, with each a bit more challenging than the last, and the final challenge being insane. However, I feel like they kind of let you coast through the entire game and then put this huge wall in front of you. You really did not need to "work" for anything before the final boss. Would have been more interesting if you had to work the entire time. Only time I had to was those damn Behemoths early on in YM. (Oh and the random fricking Fomoire dude that ganked me in Steppes.)

It's really really hard to read these threads... I don't even like seeing the names/years of areas I haven't been to yet. Let alone the fucking names of bosses. Grr.

I just had an odd glitch with a Cei'th quest target. I got doomed when it hit about 25% HP and I think Serah died and was raised before the timer was up or something... so that when doom went off for everyone, Serah was the only one alive and repeated Phoenix Downs no longer had any effect on Noel or my monster. Not only that, the mob completely stopped using any of its abilities other than the default timed damaging one that did about 15% of my HP each time. Thus, I managed to kill it with Serah solo, spamming Potions and Ruin for like 15 minutes straight while the camera continued to slowly zoom and pan away from the battlefield, clipping all of the terrain to the point where I couldn't even see my characters. Was odd and stupid, but I won.

Or he isn't aware of the potions that can remove blood damage.

lol that one.. you can effectively overcome the doom timer with death yeah.. but that battle gets increasingly hard the lower HP that monster has..
I only killed that one near the end of the game.

anyway, SEN/SEN/SEN is very underrated. If everyone has their role bonuses boosted, Tortoise seriously cuts a lot of damage. Useful in boss fights, and even more so now with wounding damage.

also FFXIII has this thing where the game spoils your right from the beginning but you don't realize it. until they tell you lol. Same thing happens in XIII-2. i suppose thats called foreshadowing.

Liked FFXIII, didn't love it. Stopped immediately after the story ended and the endgame stuff wasn't all that appealing. Are there any post-story stuff to keep you occupied?
