Currently I get my TV/Phone/Net through Century Link with their new PRISM service. As a part of this everything comes into their modem/router, before going back into the house. I have my existing network sitting behind it.
World -> PRISM Modem (PM) -> Linksys E3000 (E3)
Everything in my house connects to the E3000 (a full wired network and wireless connections). The PM has the first connection and it's own subnet (.0.whatever) and the E3 has is own subnet (.1.whatever).
Now occasionally I run into an issue where I want to connect to the PM for my net instead of the E3. However when I do that I can't access any of the shared drives or external storage on the E3.
I don't want to get rid of the E3, I like the guest access and shared external drive too much. Is it possible to put the E3 and PM on the same level (subnet?) so that no matter which I connect to I can access something on the other? Am I missing something simple?
Is it just not being discovered by windows, or can you not even connect like this?
\\IP\Sharename
ex: \\192.168.0.1\Media
Also, I know this setup too well. Verizon does the same thing where the TV runs through the modem/router. I typically like to let my DD-WRT (in your case the E3000) handle the internet and let the TV reside on my network inside. I can't think of a reason why you would ever need to be on your "TV" network if you made your E3000 router the outer-most network. Why do you need to ever be on the PM network?
I'd change it to:
Code:
Internet > E3000 > TV Network (PM)

Wired/Wireless
