Lots of not giving a fuck about the patriots and their issues.
spags had the best post
It is oft the case
does this need to be repeated again? The patriots were a less than a coinflip away from winning that SB. If either of those fumbles (not even counting the penalty) falls into the patriots hands, they likely win the game. A fumble is typically 50/50 of being recovered by either team. The pats had 2 shots that would have likely given them the win. This entire conversation wouldn't be happening in that case - something no defense or offense could control.
The patriots were that close to winning the superbowl with the third worst defense in the history of the nfl. I don't want to hear this garbage of "oh they played better derp" because the third worst defense in the history of the nfl doesn't suddenly turn into a mediocre group. This defense made it to the superbowl by playing tim fucking tebow and then 2 teams that shit the bed offensively.
they were closer to losing the ravens game then they were to winning the giants game. one field goal goes in or one catch gets caught and brady wouldnt even have the honor of losing to the greater manning
what is more flukey, third worst defense in history playing well or wes welker dropping that pass? you got law of averaged, motherfucker
I don't get why you guys are standing on Demos's way when he says that a Tom Brady-led offense failed to do the job when it mattered most, choking in the big game. I completely agree with him in his assessment that Brady came up small.
but that didn't happen so you are officially dumb
The Patriots don't need over 9000 offensive weapons. You can develop guys cheap, I mean fuck you have Tom Brady, a top tier QB. 1 really dependable WR(normally) and 2 of the best TE's in the league, I guarantee you it would not be hard to draft generic black guy from the draft to run upfield for you. You didn't just waltz into the SB with the 3rd worst ranking defense, you know that. You got in by a very lucky missed FG by the Ravens, and you lost to Eli Manning twice.
The Patriots offense is in no fear of becoming stagnant, but having a competent defense does matter. It's obvious you can't get by with a 3rd worst defense since the offense can't always deliver when the game is on the line, maybe instead start bumping up your defense to the levels it was at when, you know, you won your last 3 SB's. Seemed to work well for you all those years right?
If you told Bill or any patriot fan that the defense would hold the giants offense to 20 points scored, they would take it in a second. The offense failed to make the plays it needed. This means brady did come up small, as did welker.
Again, the patriots offense lost the superbowl, not the defense.
you mean the years you could hit receivers further than 5 yards down the field and actually make receivers fear coming over the middle? I, too, miss the years when you could actually stop a passing team. The only defense you are allowed to play now is rushing the qb, but even then...
I like how everyone says the missed field goal would have been it, the field goal was to tie the game not win it.
Lot of assuming Ravens win if they make the field goal. Whose to say if they did make it, goes to OT pats get ball first and go 80 yards for a TD game over. So much hypothetical bullshit going on in this thread.
The Patriots played a pretty terrible game, while OT was not obviously a gimme win for the Ravens, with the new OT rules and Brady's terrible playing that game, it's not unlikely to assume the Ravens had the advantage going into OT had it occurred.
I think the AFC division is weaker than the NFC division is now. We're heading back to the 1980's-1990's where the NFC dominated SB's, better QB's overall are in the NFC now.
even if NE won the game it wouldn't magically mean defense doesn't mean shit, this is something you can't seem to get through your thick skulls. If NE won it still would just be an exception not the rule, same thing can be said if an offensive powerhouse with a weak defense wins next year. Come talk to me when that happens 4 out of the 5 next years and we can begin discussions about trending.
brain washed by the media. yards given up ≠ ranking in best/worst defense they had the 2nd most INTs in the NFL this year as well not to mention their defense started playing significantly better in the post season than they had through the regular season in points allowed.
nah the assumption that the Ravens win is based on Lee Evans holding onto that catch don't get it twisted, the FG miss would have obviously kept them in the game with a decent shot at winning.
