I think my old PC game library looked something like:

Day of the Tentacle, King's Quest, Hugo's House of Horrors, Maniac Mansion, Ultima, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, The Dig, Space Quest series, Betrayal at Krondor, Sam & Max Hit the Road, Commander Keen, Lemmings, Myst, Eye of the Beholder, Might and Magic, Wing Commander, X-COM, Sim City, Star Control series, Descent, Magic Carpet, Full Throttle, X-Wing vs Tie Fighter, and FUCK YOU DRAGON'S LAIR.

If you want to count the Atari 800 as a "PC," I could go on for daaaays. Polar Pierre anyone? Anyone?

For those unfamiliar, GOG.com has a decent little selection of old PC titles made compatible with modern Windows without hassle, a few are free, most about $6~$10. I'm seriously considering rebuying Ultima 6 and 7. Too bad they lumped 6 in with 4 and 5 and put 7 by itself.

My favorite game was The Colonel's Bequest. Best murder mystery ever!

I enjoyed that game, but it was the first Sierra game that I had to play with a mouse. I could not tell what certain pixels were supposed to represent.

miokomioko, what is it about Ultima 6 and 7 that you enjoyed so much? I know those are highly thought of, but I just could not get into them the way I got into 4 and 5. There was way too much time spent walking around, and this was even with using the Orb of Moons in 6 to teleport around. I'm genuinely curious because I know 7 is held up as the epitome of the series, and I just could not feel that way, even after trying multiple times.

All of the good 'ole point and click adventures, Ultima series, Dune 2 been posted already.
Two games I really loved and I didn't see mentioned:

    Elite (Frontier):

    And Wing Commander: Privateer

Edit: Eye of the Beholder series:

Honestly, it's probably just because 6 was the first Ultima I played, so it got that unfair head start with me over the earlier ones. Going back to older installments after I fall in love with the first one I try rarely works out well for me. I know 7 is sometimes looked down upon by the older veterans of the series because it did away with the turn-based system, but I thought it to have such a large amount of depth and detail that I didn't mind. Being able to interact with almost everything in the game, and actually do intricate little activities with them like baking bread (fetching water from the well, pouring flour, mixing in with water, rolling into balls, placing in the oven, pulling them out when they rose, and selling them). It just feels like an isometric elder scrolls type of thing to me. Of course, it all went in the shitter come 8...

I never did manage to beat that. I could get into the castle and then I got lost. I found it and tried to go through it again and now I can't even get that far. I think I was 6 when I last had access to it though.

I always felt like morrowind was the spiritual successor to ultima 7. they both had that same open world feel to them.

I really loved Civilization: Call To Power. I wish the other Civ games would take a cue from them and go far into the future with technology trees.

I loved that game so much, but I had only played the SNES version. I thought the graphic/animation style was pretty damn rad and had never seen anything like it before/since.
