Exactly what I said but we were in too much of a hurry to discuss it for long, so we shrugged and moved on. Prolly cost us a win, honestly. -.-
we were actually gathering for nq odin /shrug we alternate between odin 1 and odin 2. yea, its sad. 20+ people for nq odin but when youre dealing with a lot of mediocre players, good players lose interest in carrying them.
We use those same numbers/people for Neo-Odin DB, and I don't remember you complaining when you got a Laeradr Helm. On Tuesdays coming off Arch Dyna Lord when it's 11 EST or later, people are tired, we usually only have 20 minutes of event time left, and there is no time for the necessary job changing and planning for a Neo-Odin fight.
All that said, I talked to Aerynlia/Minos so this was resolved from my standpoint. I don't see the point of rehashing it on Random Fail in light of our conversation, but I don't necessarily begrudge it.
lol i was damn glad to get that helm, but you and i both know that a large number of people in the ls cant be relied upon between not knowing how to play, not being properly geared, and just not even paying attention.
That had nothing to do with what happened in the SS posted above. You find people who fit your categories in any large group in this game and I know which ones to put in positions of responsibility for tougher fights. Like you!
yea which means i have to deal with bullshit instead of maiming things like i was meant to >.> if i wanted responsibility id play rl!
I just accidentally shot the Omphalos Bullet I got 3 days ago because I didn't notice I ran out of normal bullets.
Edit: Jokes on me for not having a cancelspell.
Hahaha good one Michelob
Beyond the fact that we do it at the very end of an event night when it's late and the second group would have to stand around another 10 minutes waiting for the first group to finish? Only a limited number of people still need stuff from NQ Odin. Yes, splitting up would get twice as many drops, but you halve your chances of actually lotting anything. While that may sound like a fair trade, it causes needless drama when the few remaining people who wanted an Ebody or a Pbody aren't in the correct alliance just because someone bitched that they wanted more worthless abjurations to turn into Tatters or Valhalla gear for their mannequin. Yes, there is a small possibility of Ebodies dropping for EACH group, but I am willing to forgo that outcome to avoid the above scenario.
dont give any fucks edit
Edited since Church retracted comment.
You don't halve your chances of actually lotting anything. You have an equal chance of actually lotting something and a higher chance of winning if you do two groups instead of one. Unless you're going to wipe to an NQ Odin, each person will see one loot pool in either situation, and your alliance will overall see more drops. As for people being whiny and bitchy because they're too dumb to understand that logic and picked the wrong group, point taken. I'd just tell them to wise up or screw off.
Why not just encourage the few people that actually want an E. or P. body to lowman it on their own time? The fight is simple these days (we summoner burned it two nights ago), and I'm sure some of your members have enough Amps saved up that they can sell some feather items. If they're good enough players that they deserve to waste the LS's time farming old content abjurations, then they're good enough players that they shouldn't need to.
By the way, this belongs in random fail: Summoner burn is definitely my new default strategy for everything.
Reasons:
1) You don't need any summoning skill .
2) It's easy to cap Perp/BP delay these days.
3) Summoners are as strong weakened as unweakened, if something goes wrong.
I'm thinking about doing Arch-Omega tonight with a summoner burn. Why? Because it would probably work. How could it not work? As long as you have players capable of running away and enough summoners to keep avatars up and kill the monster before you time out, it's pretty much infallible. I'm not sure if this is random fail on SE's part or my part, but using one of the weakest DD jobs in the game to kill everything has to be fail on someone's behalf.
Yes, they have the same base drop rate within their OWN run, but the gamble is with the few items people actually want dropping in the wrong run, which is what I meant when I said "halve their chances." Since there are very few worthwhile NQ Odin drops, I don't want people to be locked out of lotting due to which ally they are put in. It also has to do with our bid system. An example would be an Ebody that someone is willing to spend 2x points dropping in a run where it may only be 1x lotted. Or in the case of some of the other drops, not lotted at all (i.e. drops like V. body and helm).
I could tell people till I am blue in the face that they had the same odds of seeing the drop, but the sample size was increased on them, and if they chose the wrong run it would be akin to Voidwatch where you get nothing in your chest and then see other people in the same ally getting shit that is worthless to them.
EDIT: Byrth, re: the lowman thing, it isn't necessarily a waste of the LS's time since people are still spending DKP. It is a half-hour at best gathering/killing tacked on to the end of an event night. I could tell them to lowman or PUG it, but in order not to run afoul of LS Neo-Odin night they would have to do it around that time anyway. You could also say this about most events now barring Legion and Neo-Einherjar, and there is no compelling reason to limit LS events to only those two activities.
That still doesn't halve their chances, your system is just dumb.
Splitting up obsoletes the content faster than single runs. It's really that simple.
Then call the gamble whatever statistical phenomenon makes YOU happy, and have an end to it already.
Again, only if you had two runs where something good dropped in each and the intended person was there to receive it in each run, which can be a gamble. I said above I agreed with this. However, if it is one good run and one shit run, it is a wash, with the added drama attendant to someone being locked out of the good run. If they are both shit runs, it's also a wash.
These people are making my argument for me, bless thou.
