I want to tell you that you have no grasp of statistics, but this isn't even statistics. You're failing to grasp the concepts that precede the statistical analysis.
I want to tell you that you have no grasp of statistics, but this isn't even statistics. You're failing to grasp the concepts that precede the statistical analysis.
And I want to tell you that you're failing to grasp the gamble that occurs in hindsight when two runs are completed but only one is rewarding, and that at this point we're engaging in semantics. It's ok though, next time I can split people up into 2 runs, spread the people who want E. Body into each of the 2 alliances, and deal with the QQ as half the people are locked out from the only one that dropped. I could say "Dotsudoku tried to explain statistics to children..."
I think you guys are shifting a lot of blame to Mahoro that's more rightfully placed at the feet of his less intelligent LS members.
He's the LS leader...if his LS doesnt like the fact he's actually wants to do shit properly by rendering an event complete, they can leave and find another LS. If the complaints come from a fraction of the LS, majority wins regardless.
My edit was because I don't really care, not necessarily retracted.
They can't split runs because the 6 capable of doing it split are the only reason the rest can do it regardless. (And they aren't always on)
They can't split runs because they are stubborn and won't accept people to leadership positions in order to accomplish this, and many people have no interest in leading who could do it. (Or, don't want to have to lead around the less capable portion which is part of leading)
They can't split runs because despite being a linkshell of friends who have been together forever and ever, people act like children when it comes to drops and constantly vie to get theirs first. I suppose this is true of many linkshells, but the QQ'ing seems extra special as you can see by the screenshot Geneyus posted.
I don't really feel I am airing dirty laundry; Mahoro is at fault for putting up with/catering to those who would cry if they didn't get their loot because it fell somewhere else, but that isn't really the problem with splitting runs or running events in such a manner.
I think the loot argument itself goes back to say, if you ran Salvage as a linkshell. Any linkshell running groups larger than 6 people was really wasting their time because that's all the manpower full clears required. The problem with that is it took 6 people who weren't terrible; you needed a good dd/tank, rdm, brd, blm/thf/dd. Start mixing the good portion around to separate groups and it no longer functions as well as it did. This is also why people stopped doing it in linkshell groups and formed statics, lol.
I freely admit I sometimes make decisions as a SH to avert needless drama. But it's not like I don't understand how it must feel at ALL.
Imagine that there were two PUG's heading out of Port Jeuno to do Provenance Watcher. You choose one of them. You later find out the other had a Tessera Saio drop, and only one person in that ally even needed it (yes, I know we are in La-La Land now). You knew you had the same odds of all of that in your own run, but it still stings that given the 50/50 shot, you chose wrong and were thus locked out from lotting.
While an imperfect analogy, I am essentially saying the same. We made the decision to forgo the ~5% chance of two E. Bodies/P. Bodies dropping in double runs in order not to experience the ~95% chance of freezing one or more people out of access to one. Also, in a large LS, not all attendance rates are equal, so the person who got locked out one day might have to miss the next few Odins, and then it stings even more.
EDIT: The majority of Churchill's comments are inapplicable to an event such as NQ Odin which requires 6+ people to kill, not all of them even having to be skilled. And in a regular event night where 18-24 attend, there is no issue with killing two Odins.
EDIT2: If you don't feel like that is airing dirty laundry, I shudder to think what WOULD be. That screenshot had nothing to do with people QQ'ing or acting like children to get drops, as the people who even made the comments to begin with didn't need anything from Odin. The remainder of your statements about leadership miss the point that the few people who have expressed interest in leadership would likely alienate the majority of the linkshell, and it has nothing to do with being "stubborn.". Moreover, it is ironic that these comments are coming from you, as you were one of the most active posters in a huge QQ thread over Umbral Marrows. The people you describe as vying for drops are a small but very vocal minority, of which you were one.
Then split the runs and do 3-4 NQ Odins?
Sure is gambler's fallacy in here.
Holy poop, what did I start in here? Odin is a complete pushover as long as you have DDs that are paying attention and know when to get out. There is no reason not to split up, really. People are (from the sounds of it) actually REALLY wanting this gear to the point of being upset they didn't get it before someone else? That should be an even greater reason to split up the runs so the people get their stuff faster. If they don't understand that concept, tell them to trust you and deal with it. Needing a point system for something like OdinV1 is kind of lol-worthy at this point, might I add. Do you guys have a point system for Salvage, too?
Don't do Salvage in shell. Yes, you proved my point re: DD to Churchill. "Upset" is a misnomer. Covered much of the rest already. We are entering into strictly rhetorical territory here with little relation to the original post, so taking my leave before Auntie Isladar comes to roost with her mighty Hammer.
Probably late to the party here, but if you really have someone who would cry about not getting an E or P Body because he was in the "other" group where it didn't drop, then you should just do yourself a favor and kick that whiny bitch for making you think it's better to be inefficient as a linkshell than for him to just grow a pair.
dat heart u stoel giv bak
Rather than a year+ necro of the alla pics thread, I'll just leave this here:
Spoiler: show
Edit: From this thread.
him or someone just like it
Wasnt there a case of a rank 1 winner from the last bonanza getting a ridill?
