Yeah but that shit's the reason the game has hemorrhaged players it's entire existence until Abyssea, which is the only time I can remember post COP that new players joined/came back in droves.

I'm pretty sure it didn't haemorrhage players during the golden age of ToAU. I don't know if the population rose at all, but it was pretty darn stable up until WotG came along. That was the turning point.

TAU didn't see the loss of players that COP/WOTG did however there was still bleed off without much new blood. I'd say a moderate majority of the player base was still completing COP during TAU, since those missions where getting tweaked to be bearable without a perfect party/performance.

I'd be the three largest 'spikes' in players quitting would be the launch of WOW, Salvage Bans and Voidwatch. That last one being particularly sublime in its encapsulation of the philosophy of "Balance: Fuck what the players want".

Agreed. ToAU was finished up pretty quickly and each update came at a constant rate. Wings of the Goddess took for-fucking-ever to finally finish and even then I felt like I got cheated with the reward at the end.

Yeah. Swarms of people came back (myself included) but I think the nostalgia has since worn off (myself included).

I hear you on that one. Siren is a ghost town during NA/EU time, but the second we bump over to JP prime time, Port Jeuno blows up with squiggles.

Kinda going back to the missing marrow thing earlier on the page. We have had the exact same instance happen with tome 26 mysteriously vanishing after being lotted by an individual and everyone else in the ally passing. Only to find when we wanted to pop the person's set that the tome was gone. Checking back through logger yielded us seeing the lot but never the drop to said person. The ally size and parties remained the same until after everyone had passed on it. Also have heard wind of this happening to Sakima's group twice now with marrows and they got the same crap feedback from GMs.

First dalm drop for the shell, leader calls 3 ppl to lot, me ceta and bosnian. Ceta lots low, I lot 2nd, bosnian lots like 800. Bosnian is a cool guy and he passed it so that I could get it, since he knew how much I wanted it.

And then, out of nowhere, the little jp fucker lots on it, beats my lot (but not Bosnian's), so I'm like, wtf? He wasn't even called to lot? AND he lost to the guy that passed for me. Then Fratley said it was OK cause he loves sucking on JP cock.

Wasn't really drama worthy back then, just a dick move that depressed the hell out of me.
