FFXIII-2: Plot Discussion

I decided to make a separate thread for plot discussion since I know a lot of people don't want to see it in the other thread. This way if people use tapatalk they won't see spoilers and stuff.

I guess a mod can decide if we keep spoilers in spoiler tags or if we can just post regularly.

On-topic: The story is much much better than I thought it would be, especially after reading fan translations and seeing the cutscenes in Japanese. So far i'm pretty impressed.

Another thing i'm impressed about is even though there's a lot of mumbo-jumbo the story is pretty easy to follow and understand. I think the fan translations made it more complicated than it actually was.

I believe we need one specifically for plot since spoiler tags don't work on Tapatalk and people were bitching about it in the original discussion thread. We can have the new post-game discussion thread for gameplay/general discussion, and the plot discussion for plot. The original thread can be abandoned since it's so long, which was the point in making the new discussion thread.

It all made sense to me, if a mod feels otherwise then just trash this thread and i'll spoiler plot shit in the new FFXIII-2 discussion thread.

Seems fine to me. Didn't XIII get a whole sub forum for a while?

I liked the story. It's presentation was great and even tho I'd been spoiled I saw myself guessing what would happen and how the events unfolded. It's a fairly gripping tale.

I'd like to know how the dlc progresses the story because the game does a decent job tying up its newly introduced concepts, apart from the "paradox" at the end

Yeah I just unlocked the final dungeon. I wasn't expecting it so soon, I honestly thought that the Lightning reunion was the mid-point of the game, but I guess its further in. I still have plenty of Eras to unlock though. I think i'm going to explore a bit more before I attempt the final area. I don't think my group is ready to fight Caius just yet.

I have to say though, the game gets even better as you progress, especially once Yeul goes into full kenny mode.

So, i just beat the game, saw what I thought was the "bad ending", only to realize it was THE ending (to be continued? FF13-3, really Square?) and that we've been trolled by Square since... well... if you saw the ending I'm sure you know why haha.

The ending isn't as it seems. Everyone has died at least once in the story. And apart from Yeul and the ending one, its all in Valhalla. But because Valhalla is timeless, you can be dead and alive at the same "time".

Fast forward to the ending. If Etros chaos distorts time on Pulse enough to stop time as well, then you know even if so and so is dead, she isn't exactly.

Awesome cliffhanger if you asked me. I was grinning when I saw "to be continued"
Looking forward to DLC

Can't they do both? They do need to make up for the losses on FFXIV

I think a DLC continuation is more probable than FFXIII-3, but who knows. They already registered the domain for XIII-3 so I guess it's likely. I just hope they don't circlejerk like they are with the Kingdom Hearts series. If there's going to be a FFXIII-3 I don't want to wait a decade for it.

Well this one came out only 2 years after the original... I honestly don't know why they're fucking around with the KH series, the million spinoff titles were a complete turnoff for me and I've stopped caring until another major title is released.

As for XIII-3, I think XIII-2 was actually a step in the right direction for Square, so having a 3rd installment to the story won't be a bad idea. To be honest, after a cliffhanger like that, they'd be stupid to wrap it up in some 5-hour DLC storyline.

Just beat the game, well still have fragments to collect but I've seen the first ending. I gotta say I loved the game. Story was good imo and if the make 13-3 it's definitely a day 1 buy for me if it's more of this.

The ending you get after getting the 160 fragments is pretty much exactly the same, but with an extra scene shown after the credits. So you're not gonna get much more out of it. Farming the fragments isn't hard though, have fun with it lol.

I haven't purchased the game yet and I'm not too sensitive when it comes to having plot spoiled for me. I have a story question for the people who have completed the game.

Do they try to play up some romantic relationship between Serah and Noel? It may seem trivial to some (or most) but it's enough to bother me. After playing through an entire game with Snow trying to rescue Serah it'd really put me off if they decided to do that.
