So where would you draw the line for what bullshit you put up with? Say your job was 9-5 every weekday, but the company required you to be there from 8:45 - 5:15, but you only got paid for 9-5. Thats 2 1/2 hours every week they getting from you for free, or over 100 hours of free labor a year. You are told that if you do not work from those hours, you will be fired. Are you OK with that since "Hey, I still have a job and aren't freezing/starving"? How about when the time creep starts, telling you to extend your shift 20 minutes each way instead of 15? Work through your break or get fired? I would prefer not to be sucked into a system like that before it begins. But as long as somebody is willing to turn a blind eye, they will keep doing it.
