You can change skills to go in char direction instead of camera, I find that helpful on pad at least, dunno about m/kb. For stats you'll want as much Attack Speed, Power and Crit as you can get. At 20 the glyph system opens up, letting you add passive boosts to skills. Can hit up the trainer in Velika (and the other 2 major cities) to buy them. One will be a 50% chance to reset Overhand Strike CD, that shit is your bread and butter. Skill choice varies heavily on whether it resets or not.
Don't neglect crystals either. As a DPS you'll want to stack crit damage mods. I'll list some you'll want to get in the habit of using, I generally use these 4 99% of the time personally:
- Acrimonious Crystal (+X.XX crit damage when hitting a boss (this includes BAMs) from behind)
- Savage Crystal (+X.XX crit damage on all enemies from behind)
- Focused Crystal (+X.XX crit damage on enraged mobs from behind)
- Forceful Crystal (Crits from behind will give you a Power+XX buff)
- Others you'll want to consider:
- Backbiting Crystal (+X.XX crit damage on normal mobs, good for normals in dungeons)
- Carving Crystal (+X% crit rate)
- Brilliant Crystal (MP regen, nice for overworld grinding so you always have MP)
- Swift Crystal (+Move Speed in combat, can make a big difference in avoiding some stuff, especially soloing BAMs)
- Mutinous/Hunter's Crystal (+% to all damage on bosses/normal mobs, nice if you cant get behind or have a low crit rate. These ones stack so you can use up to 4 at once)
Armour ones are simple, you'll generally just want Normal/Boss Damage Reduction (Stalwart/Anarchic) or HP regen (Vigorous). Early on if you PUG dungeons you'll see a ton of people using none or terrible crystals and the boost they give is insane. Just to give you an idea using the 3 crit mod ones I use at 60 bumps your crits from 2x damage to x6.28 damage when enraged, x4.58 when they're not.
