Uh, unless something is different from when I played. Anything huge = BAM crystal, normal sized mobs = well, normal sized crystals. And minion crystals = adds summoned from normal mobs. Normal mobs in a dungeon should not classify as minions though, no, only their miniature adds.
Nah, the name medium(boss in KTERA) was changed to bosses. Everything that has an aggro circle, big or small is considered a boss. And yeah, minion mobs are for anything with a master and in groups of 4+.
Got some questions...!
1. Where is the dye npc, can you make your own dye?
2. Is there a NA site listing gear/weapons for instances and such?
3. All the classes dps seem... skewed at low level's but what are they like at max level? are they all the same about and depend on player skill for dps, or is it like "berserker best single dps, sorcerer best aoe dps" etc?
When looking at the map of Velika, the dye merchant is behind the 2nd broker to the south of the other broker merchant/mount quest.
Spoiler: show
2. teracodex.com best ive found sofar, alot of the iems are still in korean but they are slowly transferring some stuff to english

watch those videos if you haven't gulk
Rulke: Thanks for that video again, I viewed it. Seems very fun for sure. The way you're shield blocking reminds me of the Royal Guard style from Devil may cry where you anticipate/learn when a mob's move will connect and you time a block to mitigate the damage.
I'm not sure if it's because of the size of the mob but your DPS friends seem bored. I noticed they seem to be doing the same thing over and over and not really playing any positioning (I read you can stand behind Lancers to take reduced damage? etc). Anyways I also noticed how durable you are. Your friends were losing health always but you remained slightly over your HP cap at most of the time I saw.
I'll see if i i can find videos of human/them sexy races in Lancer action. I don't like your race too much, haha, personal preference. Always preferred sleek/slim female chars.
Do we know if there will be month or monthly pre-paid cards for this? I'm rather reluctant on putting CC info in an mmo again, especially one I'm torn between wanting to try.
About Lancer:
Lancer plays a lot like Ninja used to play back when the elemental wheel was the way to hold hate.
No, I didn't go insane and yes I just compared a plate damage soaking class to what would naively be percieved as an evasion tank.
Reason is pretty logical: As Lancer you are constantly timing the use of your block ability with the use of other abilities, mostly with the intention of keeping hate and MP up (although ofcourse there's other effects you may want to time like stunning). The block ability mitigates all damage* taken just like utsusemi did, so the dynamic is very similar. You time in your blocks to "cast" them on the right moment while in between hits you time in your other abilities and basic attack to get back MP so you can block again when the time is right.
* Half truth: it mitigates damage up to the allowed by your current weapon.
Just read about the Chronoscroll article, and wondering how this is supposed to help. If you have a set value to buy this item, and its worth a 1month playtime. We pay a X-value based on how many months we buy, setting the price of 1month time to a specific value. To find out how much in game money that is, wouldnt we just look at the current market, server, ect, the same thing gold selling sites do, and set a value for a 1month scroll ( lets say its $12 a month) and people are paying 20mill for the scroll, now, we have 20mill being set to a specific gold to cash value. I can go on about different scenarios, but like any economic system it will either balance or falter. Either way, im a bit confused on how this will drive people who farm for gold out of the game, "This system undercuts the value of gold farming and real-money trading, making TERA a less profitable place for criminals to do business.", http://tera.enmasse.com/news/posts/i...-chronoscrolls
What if you have a person who has enough to buy 6months or a year of game time, they need money to buy something, but cant afford to spend real money on a scroll, and hope it sells for the amount they need. I still see someone going to another site to buy what they need directly (lets say scroll is $20 and they only need $5-10 worth of cash), without the middle man, or the delay of waiting for it to sell, and not being undercut by some rich kid selling his scrolls off for half price.
Some clarification on how this will be a better system then "pay x-cash, get x-gold" and will drive the farmers out. Also on a related note, has anyone even seen a gold seller running around... I know its beta, and open is coming soon, but I recall seeing people trying out bots during betas all the time in various games. I have yet to see a mass of auto follow trains in tera yet.

Simply put, it lets EME set the price of gold vs letting gold sites set the price of gold. If properly priced, it significantly reduces the profit margin, for gold selling sites, which makes the game a less desirable investment for those companies.
Also, from their FAQ:
'So instead of reducing the supply of illegal gold, we're going to reduce the demand for illegal gold by offering an alternative. If you want to buy game gold, you can go to a legal market and get what you want from other players. Or you can go to an illegal market to buy gold, and risk losing your account (when it gets banned) and having your credit card or account stolen by those same gold sellers.
We think most players will choose to trade on the legal market for convenience and security, and doing so will reduce the market for illegal gold. By making it less profitable for criminals, we'll reduce their numbers in TERA—they can go rip off players in other games.'
I think that coupled with a strong stance on botting will do the game good. People will still bot regardless, but when it's their own personal account that can be banned it makes some think twice about it. In contrast gold farmers dont care, as the account they have was stolen anyways usually so they bot till the account is finally caught and just start over on new stolen accounts.
There is no method to completely remove the desire to buy gold or stop botting in a MMO. If people want to try that hard to get a slight overhand they will no matter what. Look at WoW, 90% of the gear is not purchasable by standard means in game, yet people find ways to hire guilds with gold to get them mounts/armor and acquire that gold through a variety of means. I remember in Firelands we had a druid pay us a hefty sum to let him sit in on H-Domo kills just for that staff.
That was a rough battle, its a really erratic monster and the spot we picked had some smaller mobs that we didn't want to aggro. My Zerker friend usually tries to get behind a monster for boosts in crits and my wife who plays the sorc. has a pattern of spells she likes to cast. We were just under lvl 30 and while we have a good variety of skills, I can't really explain their choices w/o asking them. I'm sure there is always room for improvement in all our roles as players but I can tell you that they, as players, don’t ever complain of being bored. My wife just loves Sorc to pieces, she is always teling me "this is how Black Mage should have been". Anyway...
I will ignore the blasphemy from your lips about my Aman! Basically because most of the players on this forum agree with you ; ; A lot of the female chars are quite appealing however for me I fell in love with the beast that are Aman from the first time I saw them :D
Aman Lancers look like sturdy tanks! I definitely like the look. Only race I don't like too much are the Baraka. They look way too bulky.
LOL at everyone making an Elin Lancer or have one as an avatar or sig.
(I'm making an Elin Lancer and have one as a sig... so that "might" invalidate my LOL'ing)
Oh well... life goes on.
I remember there being a mention of pre-paid timecards... I will try and find the source and link it. (Unless I'm crazy and imagining it.)
P.S. Love the sig! lol
EDIT:

It is being considered but no official word if they will have them.
Cool, thanks.
Might be the wrong place to post but I am contemplating trying the game out.
What is yalls opinion on the game from a long time FFXI player's point of view? I have not played another game since quitting XI.
From what I have observed the plus side seems to be:
No grind for exping
Less dependence on a party
Channels to switch zones to help camping etc
The events seem a lot shorter instead of a 5 hour dynamis grind also.
Then the biggest appeal to me so far is the free aiming system, seems so much cooler than the attack and afk.
I was waiting for XIV V 2.0 but it seems like TERA destroys it in every way starting from launch day. I've seen a few posts around here and it seems like some of the BG guys really like it. Do yall think this is a next long term game?
I played FFXI for oh, like 7 years I think? I didn't pick up any MMO until Tera (dabbled with GW but didn't really do it for me) so perhaps I fit your criteria.
I loved this game from the moment I tested it back in 09. It's graphics are beautiful, the classes and combat are fun, music is amazing and the main story is probably on "par" with perhaps what FFXI released with in terms of main city missions (Shadowlord). I really think the story is improving but I have yet to play into many of the later levels. A lot of people here are really digging the way PvP is set up too, so that can be a promising aspect if you enjoy PvP. Everyone here I think loves most of these things and I would HIGHLY suggest trying the game out when OB hits unless you get a pass for one of the last two CBs.
Not sure if I'll be playing Tera for 7 years (diff time in my life etc), but it's going to be a few for sure.
For an intelligent player, it is way less grindy and easier than ffxi, but the gameplay/combat is so much more fun.
I really really wanted to like ffxiv but couldn't, and in my humble opinion, Tera is the game ffxiv 'should' have been but never will be. (minus the ability to change classes).
Also, as a blm at heart, I agree with Rulkes wife. Sorc is like Blm 2.0 to me.
