I played FFXI for what... 9 years? I've dabbled with WoW, Lineage 2, Final Fantasy XIV, Guild Wars and a bunch of smaller titles during that time. Nothing, until now, could divert my attention from FFXI. This game is all about aiming and being active, moving and being unpredictable, reading your opponent and deciding your attacks in between their attacks. This game throws action at you in the truest sense and once you get a taste of it every other MMO at the moment looks bland and uninteresting.
So happy to hear this, I've played XI for long long time now and I always find it hard to get into other MMOs. Being annoyed at what they are doing with XI lately I've recently quit and can't wait for Tera's release.

I am currently playing XI again. I also have quit for almost 2 years at one time and taken few months breaks at other times throughout because we have had a hot/cold love affair since I was 14, (23 now, fuck me).

Throughout that entire time, I was never impressed with anything besides XI. WAR sucked, WoW sucked, Rift sucked, TOR sucked, Aion sucked, XIV was a travesty... I really felt like nothing could hold my interest, and maybe I was just a one and done MMO player. However, even playing TERA in Korean, it held my interest without a doubt. I was drawn in even though I couldn't read anything because it is just so different and original.

I guess I see in TERA some of the originality and spark that kept me interested in XI over the years. Pretty much every game that isn't a WoW clone has failed horribly, and I pretty much gave up hope until I tried TERA.

I'm about to download the game but I'm running a little low on HD space on my main drive. Would I have any problems running it off my 2nd drive? I've never tried it before.

Is your second drive still internal, or is it a USB external?

Either way you just need to change the install path to your second drive (the C: to whatever) during install, however I wouldn't recommend trying to install it on a USB HDD as access time will be very slow which could affect FPS.

    Hey everyone;

So I've only done one Tera beta weekend... I just wanted thoughts on the size the races.

For later on in the game, how is aiming for healers' abilities? While an Elin Lancer would be awesome and fun to play, the size of an Aman would just make it a lot easier for a healer to get off a critical cure. Paired with this, then there are the racials of Aman and Boraka which kind of lead themselves to tanking. Overall, how much of an influence is race in the game in the longrun?

I still forsee Aman and Boraka being PvE races, and the racoons and elins being PvP races.

Btw, LOL @ Ragebear... Fitting name in the end I guess, and yet, he didn't take the advice on the other thread and learn how to sentence.

Wish I could have found his thread before it got shut down lol. And depending on when you tried to login they were probably down seeing as they have been having issues with the rifts from QoA patch. From what I hear.

But seriously? I don't even play KTera and this info is easy to find. Thanks for stopping in, we won't miss you.

What are the benefits to completing the story line quests? I basically SM spammed to level cap and now looking in my quest log I have storyline quests like Cultists' Conspiracy, Insanity Epidemic, Phantom Menace, Tuwangi Mire, etc...

Is there any advantage to going back and finishing these quests? Do they all lead up to missions or are they more/less fodder to help guide you to where to go to level?

Story quests give good exp and they also reward you with level appropriate gear upgrades; early levels are just green gear, but the later levels reward blue and gold gear sets. They won't be the best gear you can get but they are significant upgrades if all you do are normal and story quests, and can fill out gear you haven't been able to find in dungeon drops.

Great, thanks. So what I'm taking from this is that if I just skipped over some of the earlier quest lines it'd be no big loss other than some decent gear and EXP?

I cannot answer from the perspective you wish (long term), but I can add something about sizes:

If you experiment a bit, you'll notice that sizes aren't normalized but they are adjusted somewhat. For example, I'm incapable of distinguishing an Elin's box size compared to a Castanic or a Human. On the other hand, Barakas and Aman have somewhat smaller boxes than their body would hint to.

Ofcourse, there's also the visual factor, which may be important to some players anyway.

Pretty much. I'd say that if you're alone, skip the fluff quests and just do the reds, to keep up on gear. If you're partying with friends, though, plow through all the quests since it'll be so much faster and easier to kill all of the "Kill XXX number of mobs!" quests for big XP.

If you are at all interested in the plot of tera, just pay attention to the red story quests. Those drive the who, what and why of things. Yellow quests are more zone local info and sometime minor story support

Was unsure if this deserved its own thread, so I just decided to post here instead.

With Diablo 3 being released 14 days after Tera hits the streets. I'm curious how this will effect BG's decision on which game to play (Tera or D3). I assume many others like myself have been waiting many many years for this game to come out. At the same time, I've been slightly turned off to D3 upon hearing only four heros are allowed per world. I know to many this may seem like and insignificant problem, but I don't feel like leveling 3-4 different characters in D3 so I can play with all my friends who have been waiting for this to come out.

so BG! what say you?! Ya gonna play Tera? ya gonna play D3?!? ya gonan paly BOTH TEERRA AND D#?!? give some personal reasons on your choice too if you want. I'm interested on what's fueling your decision.

D3 isn't a MMO. D3 will 100% hurt TERA initial sales, but they are still in completely different categories.

Tera only. If I play D3 will be on and off with friends only. But no real desire to go out and preorder/buy it.
