So i'm having a dilemma in choosing between Slayer and Warrior come release. Warrior seems like a lot of fun and has a really high skill cap which could be fun to work towards, but usually in MMOs I lean towards dps. I like that they have debuffs and can off tank on the fly, while Slayers seem pure dps and can dodge around >_<.

It seems like everyone and their mother wants to be a war. something to take into consideration imo if you want it to be your main/first character

    Slayer is freaking amazingly fun.

I'm going to be starting as priest, for reasons that aren't important for this argument, but slayer is going to be my baby. I've been having a blast during CBTs on slayer, both in pvp and pve, and I'm not running around with a healer at all. Just a pair of DDs killing everything.

The mobility slayer has is just addicting. You can be in one place one second and rapidly move to another without losing momentum; you have a ranged attack that helps close gaps while doing damage, a rush skill that moves you about 12 meters, surprissing your enemy; you get dash, which if glyphed can be up half the time increasing your mobility, a stun attack that moves you out of danger and a spectacularly fast (though with slow recovery) stun. And what's best: you can close all your slow attacks with that slash blade thing that hits like a truck and has a very short recovery time.

I just love this class ^__^

I don't know whether I want to do slayer or sorc on release. Seems that everybody likes sorcs for dungeons, but slayer is more fun at lvl 30.

For endgame (which I know basically nothing of both pve and pvp), can you do most things with a small guild? As in are the dungeons and stuff just 5 man parties? Or is there something you need a guild of 20+ people on all at the same time? I mainly ask because I have a group of friends all wanting to play and it will probably be like a dozen people give or take, curious if we could fully enjoy everything or if we'd need to get into a large guild.

MMOs like these usually have 10, 15, and 20 man content with the difficulty and reward being directly related to the number of people involved. 15 and/or 20 man dungeons are usually considered the "premium" endgame content.

Can't imagine how a 20 man raid would work in TERA though...

MMOs with a standard type of quest and endgame format. I'm hoping it isn't the same as other game's endgames though.

Oh. Yeah, the core is somewhat the same as your generic MMO, with the obvious exception of it's combat. But as you said, because of this particular combat, strategic high man raids are hard to imagine unless groups are split.

Having gotten to 34 on my priest this weekend I'll be honest when I say that this games combat will probably cause it to be around for decently long time. As a healer class you get that same sort of intensity as a DPS, IMO, with your direct cures and Aoe buffs. killing some BAM spiders outside of the secret mansion instance was literally just so much fun and involved so much skill. Not to mention the thrill of PvP at any moment was awesome.

Is there anything special one has to do to get into the EU beta? Do I have to redownload another client or just create a different EME account and get a code?

There is a separate EU launcher you will need. Whether or not you can copy the client folder from the NA version to the EU one to skip the majority of the patch, I don't know. To get access I pre-ordered it from them on Frogster's version of the tera website.

Unlike EME, you can actually get a pre-order from Frogster for only five euros instead of paying the whole thing at once; you do have to make an account on Frogster's website (https://account.tera-europe.com) though since they're a different publisher.

Backhand is where the overhead strike glyph comes into play (or overhead strike in general). Backhand can be cancelled into Overhead Strike, which then benefits from the speed increase. With the Overhead Strike glyph procs, you can do Backhand > Overhead > Startling Kick > Overhead. More procs = more shit. Can start throwing Knockdown Strike, Heart Thrust and Leaping Strike in there as necessary.

Totally stuck between rolling a Lancer, Slayer, or Warrior for my main. :c I'm leaning well towards Lancer, but I fear they may be very common.

Why would you think that? Lancer is a tank and will be in short supply, just like healers will.

Dunno, just see a lot of people playing it. I always play the tank class simply because it usually requires a decent amount of skill to be good at it, is in relatively short supply, and is always required for pretty much anything, but Warrior seems to fit that bill pretty well too albeit in a much less... popular light.

So far Lancer has been the third-least played class, only slightly above Mystics and Priests, in the the betas, with only 10% being Lancers (9.8% for Priests and 9.8% for Mystics). Whereas, Warrior was the most common at 16.1%.

My predictions, according to my afterlife communication channel, are:

Warriors will be the most played class on release; but this won't last.

Warrriors look like rogues, sneaky and swift, and they'll even get a combo system that's basicly the same as Aion's assassin. People will think this is the stun-lock, fast attacking, no-skill needed class and will go for it.

When they discover that they aren't exactly top DD, that they can't use any kind of sneak, that a good warrior is expected to be able to tank stuff and they regularly get rejected from parties, then...

    ... they'll re roll Slayer.
