Going from the current EU rules, which will probably be the final ones for the US too (EU never bothered to switch back to instant deletion during CBTs), your character can instantly be deleted as long as it's under level 5. If it's equal or over lv5 it will take a week for the deletion to actualy happen.

As somebody else mentioned, the way this worked in beta (could potentially be different) is that you could delete characters instantly. You can remake also instantly. I deleted my 20something mystic and remade on a different class in about 2 minutes during beta.

During the deletion process it told me that I'd have 7 days to contact EME if I wanted my character back, but after that it was gone.

As to the questions about when we get preorder items, there seems to be some conflicting information. I see that the FAQ on the site states @ release. However, Knoxxer has made a post stating we will get them during headstart. I'm hoping the headstart one is accurate!

I know this is weak proof, but ths following supports the idea of headstart having the preorder items:

Only recently been checking this game out. Does race have a huge impact in this game? Planning to go Slayer and Castanics look the best for that with their backstab criticals and whatnot, but I hate their stupid horns. I'd rather be a human or high elf. Will race have a big enough impact on classes for me to go with a look I hate the entire game? xD

The racials aren't that important, so feel free to choose what ever race you want to play. The castanic crit bonus is only 1%. I think the only ones that stand out are the Aman and Human 10% defense reduction when under 30% HP (Aman for mobs, Humans for other players) but I don't think it would stop you from getting 1 shot at that point anyway.

I'm sure number crunchers will tell you to pick race for racials/bonuses but a simple reality is play any race and class you want; game is more movement/player skill based than just math.

There was a video posted in the media section that showed the hit range of a few classes based on race. They're already beginning to do the crunching to determine what class is best for a certain class. According to that, Elin make the best Lancers because they can hit from 7-8M and I think Baraka and Aman Female are the worst with 4m? Castanic Males make the "best" Slayers because their last swing they leap and have the greatest travel distance in the 4 swing combo. Etc..etc.

I'd have liked that they tried to make them as close as possible and race not being a determining factor on that so it wouldn't create the "Why did you roll that race when this race is the best for this class."

Anywho, on to my question which is more system based than TERA, but it involves running TERA much better.

System Stuff
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit SP1
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5600+ 2.80GHz
RAM: 3GB DDR2 (2x 1024mb, 2x 512mb, 4 slots total)
System Age: About 6-7 years old

I run the game at preset 4 for the most part. Towards the end of CBT I tweaked 4 by turning off the lighting and shadows to see if that helped. My biggest issue isn't so much the stuttering and lock ups, but this:

This happens when I visit crowded areas, Velika, or have been playing for 2-3 hours sometimes shorter depending on what all I encounter. Now from what I've been told, it sounds like a RAM issue. (No, it's not the video settings kicking in for busy areas, those are all unchecked.) The game just stops rendering textures and details on objects. Sometimes they will flicker in, but overall, no detail is shown and it looks like blurry blobs.

Of course I want the game to run smoother and be able to play at higher settings, but I would love to not have to restart the game everytime I visit Velika or play for 2 hours.

So my question, if anyone would happen to know, is getting more RAM going to help/fix this, or would it be a waste as the issue is elsewhere in my system? I've been wanting a new system for a while, but just don't have the money to afford it. I've been upgrading what I can(video card/power supply) when I can in my current, but has it hit the point where it'd be a waste.

Obviously more RAM wouldn't hurt, but I don't want to put out the money on RAM but in the end buy a new system where I couldn't even reuse the RAM because it's DDR2 and most systems are at.. what, DDR5 now?

System RAM is up to DDR3, Graphics card RAM is at DDR5.

The nice thing about DDR2 is you can generally get it dirt cheap because it's so old. The problem is finding it most of the time. Average price on Newegg for DDR2 RAM is $15/GB for 1066MHz. Getting more RAM would certainly not hurt, since 3GB is really low for a game like TERA on decent settings. I'm using 6GB in triple channel personally, and most people running performance rigs are using 6-12. Don't forget that Windows itself and things like Vent, Firefox, etc are going to be using RAM too, so the whole 3GB isn't being devoted to TERA. Based on your configuration, it's also unlikely you're using anything more than Dual Channel if that.

I know when we spoke before you mentioned that you thought some of your RAM might be dead/damaged in some way. If you wanted to test that, this is a solid, free utility which checks the integrity of your RAM. I'd give that a run if you were still unsure if that was the case.

If you wanted to overhaul your system, you'd need to get a new Processor, Motherboard, and RAM all together since upgrading those pieces 1 at a time from a system that old would pretty much be a waste. Altogether you could probably get a decent setup for about $300-400, assuming you're comfortable taking the current motherboard out of your current case and all that jazz.

Edit: Derp, short answer to the original question is yes imo, I think more RAM would help, and DDR2 is pretty cheap anyways if you wanted to try it out.

Which is what I want to avoid because I don't have 3-400$ to dump on a new system. While I know the basics around the inside of the computer, I would have no idea what I'm doing from scratch to put it all together. If I were going to do that, I'd go all out. New everything! Well.. minus the HD, video card, and probably power supply. New fancy case with lights would be neat. <3 my blue glowing power supply.

I was looking at Newegg last night and was thinking of grabbing 2x 2GB sticks which would bump me up to 6GB total. I noticed my video card also pulls from my system memory, which isn't leaving me much left when it's taking about half of what I currently have. (That's what the shared system memory is, right? What it's pulling from my systems RAM. Still learning some of the finer details of this stuff.)

So overall you don't see any glaringly obvious issues with my system other than the 3GB RAM? I know the CPU isn't the best but it's atleast above min requirements. It was great when I got it. >>;

The real short answer is switch to 64bit W7. Your problem is ram related technically, but not hardware ram.

Oh holy crap I did not even notice that you are using a 32-bit OS. Crap.

Yeah. You can't ever have more than 4GB total RAM on a 32-bit OS, ever, and graphics RAM is counted in that total. I really think you could use more RAM, but tbh you're going to need a new operating system before you'd be able to actually take advantage of any of it. You can't upgrade straight to a 64-bit OS either, you'd have to reformat your hard drive and perform a fresh installation. If you're not concerned about not paying for windows, shoot me a PM and I can hook you up. If you do want to go the straight and narrow route, most universities have a free/discount software program if you or your boyfriend are students. If not, Microsoft should still have large student discounts on Windows for anyone who can provide them with a working .edu email address (doesn't have to be current, just have to have access to it).

But yeah, overall your system doesn't look "bad", and your processor shouldn't be causing your texture issues to begin with so that's a non-issue.
