Just tanked my first dungeon on 2 bosses. Some rock dude and a summon demon.

As a lancer I run into the mobs, use a shout, then a block, then some basic attacks, and repeat shout and block. Is there anything else I could do? I get hit often but I was noticing the healer's MP and party's HP, and it seemed like only I was getting hurt, so I guess I was doing my job fine? It feels like I don't have much aggro abilities either.

On the boss, sometimes I couldn't tell if I had aggro, it'd randomly jump elsewhere, I suppose this is normal behaviour? Likewise, no one shouted or screamed at me for getting a few unblocked hits, and healer had full mana when the bosses died.

Just thinking ahead on how to self - improve. But otherwise, very very very fun!

on bams, you have what they call a 'hate circle' that shows who has aggro. it's a glowing orange circle under the character that is on the top of the hate list. as long as that's on you, you're doing it right. especially as a new lancer, there's not a lot you can do. taunt, block, pewpew for mana, shield bash, overwhelm/shield charge when its stunned/knocked down, wash/rinse/repeat. later on you get iron will which will help tons in actually getting taunts off sucessfully, and leashes for additional hate. glyph your challenging shout for max threat as soon as you are able.

the bosses in SB/bastion are annoying and jump all over the damn place. so long as you have that orange circle on you, you're doing all you can.

This isn't your normal game when tanking; if bosses get hit hard enough from the sides or behind, they may jump back, or swing backwards, or even dig underground (for some) as a "Get off me!" tool. Most bosses also have massive jumping moves that they will either randomly throw out, or as a response to someone momentarily pulling hate. The higher level you get, the more often you're going to see bosses bucking like crazy and going all over. Some also have pre-set attacks at certain health percentages, like in WoW, where they may run to the center and do a scripted move. You can usually stun or leash them to get them to stop the attack, but you won't always be successful.

Basically, if people are not getting raped, you're doing their job. Even if some people get hit, it may very well be their on fault, like staying close to a boss when he's leaping back or swiping. Basically, keep doing your rotation, taunt when it is ready, keep your stuns and leashes ready for bucking broncos, and listen to your party; if nobody is complaining, you're doing your job.

Tanking is pretty thrilling in this game. Enjoy it!

For that part of the game, you are still limited in your abilities so don't feel too bad. Learn to time shield bashes too or rotate them in. Soon you will have other skills you can rotate in. By the time you reach Vampire Mansion you'll have much more variety in what you can do

    Aye, thanks.

Just tanked my 2nd dungeon, at one point 6 mobs jumped on me and I don't think I blocked. Basically it felt like getting one shotted. Oddly enough the party was fine without me so I wondered if I was of any point hehe, but I suppose it's early days. Will keep examining and watch some more vids.

Gooooood. I had many of those. I kept running away from them thinking it was some "ohshit!" spot.

Its actually very easy to see if you have aggro in Tera (on bosses). Anytime you are fighting a "BAM" type monster if you currently have aggro there will be a red/orange circle around your feet. When you are losing aggro and someone else is about to overtake your threat, there will be a purple circle around your red circle and a purple circle around the feet of the person who is about to overtake you. This will not always happen as threat can quite suddenly turn at times.

I don't think there is a "good" one yet, BG is working on one but I am not sure of its progress.

http://tera.zam.com/ has a pretty good database, particularly since they are getting their data direct from enmasse.

it's woefully incomplete at the moment. every item i've looked up has the item stats and nothing else; i.e. no info where it comes from, is it crafted/dropped, what instance, etc. i'm sure it'll pick up but atm, blah.

Our wiki-in-progress isn't much better. Trog is still trying to flesh out the site first and make sure everything has some sort of template to make things easier when it goes open, if it goes open. Not sure of the current plans or what's going on.

I've been adding things as I come across them and I had a bank full of crap, I just forgot where it came from by the time I got around to updating the wiki with it.

Is there much to do outside of level grinding in TERA?

I'm 45 currently, and the most I've seen as stuff to do on the side is Gathering (way too easy to level), Extraction (no levels at all, bought all scrolls), and then the 6 crafts which don't really seem to be all that hot in terms of what you can produce. It just makes me worry lvl60 will get boring if there's nothing else to do besides PvP/GvG, or grinding instances for loot to use in enchanting your upper-tier gear.

That's pretty much it right now at endgame. I'm actually ok with it right now since I like this game's combat so much compared to other MMOs. Provided they patch in a timely fashion, we'll probably see KTera's Nexus events (think Rifts), better crafting, and warrior class overhaul, new dungeons etc soonish.

And yeah, crafting atm is pretty shitty; the only thing even remotely worth it right now is Alchemy for the scrolls and HP/MP pots.

Does the difficulty increase ever? For normal quests I'm always using the same strategy on my Mystic for killing everything, and that's basically just face-tanking everything dealing as much damage as I can, since the mobs don't hit remotely hard enough to make me worry.

I guess I'm saying is that it's too solo-friendly, and that the potential of the combat system is completely wasted outside of BAM quests and instances. For a game that's been out over a year in Korea I was kinda expecting there to be a bit more than what I was expecting of a base-package MMO. At least what's there is a fairly polished experienced outside of the god damned chat log bug, which I hope EME will shed some light on since it's been a week now since launch.

The large orange ones that appear randomly below you are oshits that you should block or avoid if possible. The very small orange circle that is actually around you and will follow you is what he meant as far as showing you that you have aggro.

    1. Is the auction house search feature bugged or is it just me? Very often, the search returns no results when I type in the item name with all other details set to default, while other times it will return the results I'm looking for. When it doesn't return any results, if I do a granular search for item type, level, but without the item name, I am able to find the item I was looking for. I've also seen the search return the correct item along with other items that does not match the search criteria. (By the way, I'm CTRL+clicking the item to search by so it's not that I'm making typos)
    2. Where in the options can you turn off the on-screen notifications for GvG stuff? Like the ones that say 'xxxx has declared a GvG battle on xxx'.
    3. Any friendly people on Basilisk Crag?

solo questing got kinda difficult by the lv 50's range as the quest mobs became increasingly difficulty... then it went easy mode from 58->60 in the aragon area's.

As for instances, "hard" mode will be interesting, the mobs look like they move 3X faster, and hit hard (they basically teleport move when they enrage).

Anyway at lv 60 theirs a few other things you can do... korean style...!
Grind mobs for reputation for gear.
Grind bams for key runes to craft 250+
Grind money, to buy the above (really easy to make a tens of thousands atm with 65-90g whites, 120-200green, 200-350blue, 400-1500gold T12 gear).
(as a berserker, aoe farming the above is easy mode)

Theirs also some nexus event thing, but I've not seen it happen yet grinding rep in the zone that has the nexus events in many many many hours I've grinded.

Are daily quests active yet? Not close to end game but I remember some notes for EME about them.
