    Earbuds

Dear BG, source of some of the greatest answers ever. I come to you in a time in which my current pair of earbuds are dying on me. The left bud loses sound if I move it the wrong way, and I'm looking to purchase a new pair. These were $50, made by sony, and I believe noise cancelling. They're far superior to my 20 dollar skullcandy set, and I'm looking to keep some semblance of quality in the new pair I purchase.

These will be used mostly while sitting at my desk at work listening to music/streams/whatever. Used on car/bus rides for music. I value comfort greatly, that being said the small rubber tips usually work fine for me. Not looking for any of the ones that penetrate half way through your skull to deliver the best sound and cause physical discomfort in the process.

Looking to spend between 30-60 bucks, so does anyone have any suggestions?

    Love always,
    -Slott

amazon has those for 28, rather than 50 it seems. But in your experience these are really good?

Grumble grumble, so there's white noise in these earphones when plugged into my laptop yet not my iphone. The sony's I had I guess were noise cancelling, so I never heard it, so I'm still in the market for some ear buds. I can use these at home or something, so if anyone still has any suggestions let me know please.

Albeit a little out of your price range, the hands down highest quality earbuds I've found so far are surprisingly enough the Zune Earbuds. They sound amazingly and in a high-noise environment like work I've still had people have to tap me on the shoulder to get my attention because I couldn't hear them; and this wasn't with the volume levels maxed out.

this is probably a bad place to ask.. lol

but just out of curiosity, how are the Zune MP3 players? i need something to replace my 16gb ipod nano because 16gb to me is nothing, and was looking to upgrade to an mp3 with with a larger capacity. ipod classic and zunes come to mind, but i cannot find brand new zunes. so, im under the assumption that they've been cancelled, but to me, it looked better than the ipod by a longshot, lol. i just need something that can deal with my bouncing around and movement a lot

They're not bad at all. I had the second gen Zune that had a 3-4" screen and an 80GB HDD. It was cool, but it was too heavy to take running and I ended up selling it off. Now I have a new 8GB iPod nano which is 1000x better for working out with.

Also, the reason you can't find anything Zune related now is they dropped the product line last year sometime and now the "Zune" label is simply their online marketplace, similar to iTunes.

but thanks for the feedback, man! i dont think i will feel comfortable buying a brand that's been discontinued

Biggest issue with headphones for me seems to be them wearing out just above the connector, right where the wirey part starts...

    I picked up these...

    http://www.target.com/p/Philips-O-Ne...k/-/A-13596835

They're tangle resistant... sound is good enough for me... had them for like a year, and they've held up decently... just starting to get a little bit of a buzz on loud volumes, on some sounds, so I might need to replace soon.

One other downfall, which could be a big one if you're a jogger or something, is if the cord is moving around a lot - you'll get a stethoscope effect from the cord hitting your clothes/chest/belt/whatever...

I might go with the same ones, unless there's something with the same pluses with better sound, for decent money.

weeeeeell it's not going to be 80GB or anything, but I gotta say, the sansa clip+ is pretty fucking awesome, especially in an exercise environment specifically because of the clip. I think they only come in 4 and 8GB flavors, but they support microSDHC which I've seen as big as 32GB. Also supports Rockbox if you're into that.

Also a newer model with video out now: http://www.sandisk.com/products/sans...zip-mp3-player

    You're good for compatibility:

Supported formats for both Clip+ and Clip Zip:

    MP3
    WMA
    Secure WMA
    Audiobooks
    Ogg Vorbis
    FLAC
    AAC compatible(DRM-free iTunes)
Also to hey's point, 64GB gets kind of crazy, but I see reasonable sales for 32GB fairly often. Recently one was on sale for $37: http://slickdeals.net/f/3913188-32GB...-37-with-Prime

Rockbox is a different firmware you can put on a handful of other media players, but it's kind of an audiophile thing as far as I can tell.

I'm sure you could probably convert the flacs to aac and get an 80 gb library down to 72 easily enough.

Rockbox is custom firmware for various music players.

Definitely, but if you need the space, and have the money, it can certainly be worth it.

If you're going to be listening with earbuds, even really good ones, may as well just convert to mp3.
