I guess the question is - if you want to make a sarcastic commercial where a Chinese person is thanking the US government for helping china at the expense of the US - what should said Chinese person talk/look like? Should she speak the queen's english? That wouldn't make much sense. Go full-on chinese with subtitles? I guess but kinda waters down the effectiveness of the ad...

It was funny because she switched accents in an underhanded attempt to make it seem like all Chinese-Americans are secretly accent-wielding spies for the great mother country.

It's like winking at the camera using speech.

Nah man, you gotta go for full authenticity/hypocrisy: Hire a Chinese PR company to film the ad in China using Chinese actors on a Chinese rice paddy. Outsource the fuck out of it, like the free market intended.

It has, but the point of the commercial isn't so much fear mongering; as it is to thrust a specific senate race into the limelight to increase D spending where they normally wouldn't. The Ds have to defend something like 26? senate seats, so they want the senatorial spending spread as thin as possible.

Michigan, being moderately D-safe, is something the Rs are trying to push to play.
