Road Trip - Vancouver to Las Vegas (Party Hard)

After taking much needed advice from this thread: http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/920...ight=las+vegas I've come to ask BG to expand and highlight on whatever there is to do on the way to Vegas. I've already planned to hit up some of the Diner's Drive In's and Dives on the way. What else is a ''must see'' or ''must do'' on the way, or in Vegas?

I'm assuming you're coming down I-5, at least through Portland. The drive on the west side of the Cascades is going to be far, far more interesting than the drive down the east side of the cascades, so I'd recommend hanging west as long as you can, unless there's something explicit you want to see on the east side.

Recommendation #1: the Experience Music Project in Seattle. It's in the same area (the Seattle Center) as the Space Needle, so you could see that too. I don't think going in the Space Needle is actually that cool, it's fairly expensive for what amounts to a decent view.

Recommendation #2: Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland. It's easy to get off I-5 and make it work. Portland's unofficial motto is "Keep Portland weird," Voodoo Doughnuts is an excellent microcosm of that. Get the cock & balls donut, they will decorate it however you like (i.e. your name, your ex's name, something obscene, whatever). This is cheap, quick, and easy, you won't lose much time at all, as they're each within a few minutes of I-5.

If strip clubs are your thing, Portland strip clubs are some of the most liberal in the nation: full nude with alcohol. The popular belief is that Portland has more strip clubs per capita than any other city in the country, but I don't know if that's true. There are a lot of them, however.

Portland : Henry's 12th Street Tavern, resonable prices and there specials are great. Great selection of tap beer. Voodoo Dougnuts is great, but the lineup can be long. Powell's City of Books in DT Portland is fuckin amazing. You can easily get lost in this place. Multiple floors of books, comics & other stuff. Be warned, you can easily spend hours in here. Lol.

Las Vegas : Make sure you hit up a show. I enjoyed the jabbawockeez's show. For breakfast check out Hash House A Go Go. It's off the strip but killer breakfast stuff.

Breweries, pretty much take your pick from just north of Seattle on down to Portland - the others would be out of your way. For pussy and drinks, take I-5, for mountains and shit going out towards yakima and spokane is more scenic.

Some of my most debaucherous stories are centered on Seattle or Portland. Can go to (Exotic Dragon I think) titter in chinatown and get into some crazyness or chill at thirsty lion picking up sluts - just be warned it is a rugby pub so pub crawl night won't work out for you. Kells in Seattle, meet someone and move on. Seattle's best areas are hidden away and hard to find, but you can't go wrong following hotties on the street.

If you go to Voodoo Doughnuts (which is a cliche, but still awesome), you must go to the one downtown: http://maps.google.ca/maps?q=voodoo+...w&z=17&iwloc=A It's still right next to a porno theatre and surrounded by homeless shelters. It's pretty funny going down there and seeing guys duck into the porno theatre while line of suburbanites, tourists, and locals snakes around the block waiting for doughnuts.

Food carts are pretty rad in Portland. However, recommending a single restaurant or cart in that city is near impossible. For something uniquely Portland; Pok Pok makes for some great pre-drinking food and is definitely the best Thai I've ever had.

Can't really recommend much south of Portland in OR. I-5 south of PDX is tediously boring, so make a bee-line for the CA border.

Oh ya, food carts in Portland. That's the best part about PDX.

Yo I always ate this padthai carts shit when I was rolling around blackout drunk. I know because the dude would always say wassupppp and I'd be like wtf, I don't even say that shit. Apparently I do.

Punch two hippies in Olympia though.

Thought of another good place to try in Portland; Pine State Biscuits. Even the basic biscuit and sausage gravy is amazing, but for real gluttonous joy get the Reggie Deluxe: as a biscuit sandwich, a piece of fried chicken, topped with cheese, bacon, a fried egg, and then smothered in sausage gravy. It's insane but damnned if it isn't delicious. I wish there was some place in Vic or Van that had anything close to it, but I would be damn fat if that happened. Pine State has two locations I think, and the Alberta district one is pretty close to I-5.

Made me remember, M&M Sandwiches on 6th Ave in Tacoma. Get a Mike's Deluxe. Get another for the road. Regret not getting 2 for the road.

Speaking of road eats, skip the fast food and go for the taco trucks or Mexican joints. Maybe it's the weariness of the road, but a bowl of posole or fresh tamales at some skeezy looking place is always the most delicious thing.
