Dumbass newfag animoo questions

Ok here's some questions maybe someone in this sub-forum can answer. I watch some anime off Netflix and like 99% are distributed in the states by Funimation. The questions I have are:

1) Does that asshole Vic have to be in every goddamn anime?
2) Are anime that have tons of vignetting a result of some idiotic bullshit Funimation crap, or are the original JP versions like that too?
3) I highly suspect that a lot of Funimation anime ports are edited to all fuck and back. Am I right about this? I fucking hate censorship and it just seems like some bits of these anime are hacked up, and have additional cell art on top of original (like if in an anime some bitch or dude is in the shower, they're magically bathing with a skin-tight suit on.)

Just random thoughts as I want to punch my TV every time that ugly fucking vignetting pops up, or I hear Vic's stupid voice for the 1000,0000,0000000000 time.

I don't have a clue who this Vic is. Otherwise, yes, Funimation edits some shit in anime and censors some of them. Dubs are trash, even the good ones are nowhere near as good as the real versions. Stop watching dubs.

Sigh, some dubs are alright. Please let's not do this stupid thing again. Certain animes Dubs>Subs. Most cases I prefer subs.

Anime I prefer in English (no order... well, except #1)

Cowboy Bebop (if you think the sub on this is better, you do not know any better...sorry.)
Hellsing
SOME DBZ (mostly would watch in JP except for certain things)
Fullmetal Alchemist (original)
Blue Gender - If you think all Funimation animes are edited, watch the DUB of this anime. One of my favorite ever, and one of the best dubs I've ever heard. Fun story to boot. If you haven't watched it, check it out. Make sure you watch the unedited version though. JP VA's do this one no justice.
I prefer Trigun in English, but probably because that was the first "real" anime I ever watched.

Cases where I prefer subs...

Most everything else.

Viv Mignogna is one of the better American voice actors so deal with it. No clue about vignetting as I never watch both versions. 4Kids is usually the group that goes crazy with ridiculous edits, not sure how much FUNimation is involved. If you buy dvd/blurays I'd assume they'd be unedited at the very least.

I don't really want to watch sub-titles. I pay more attention reading than watching the screen. How about a list of dubbed anime that has lots of violence, gore, boobs, and all the other good stuff that makes adult entertainment adult entertainment, that isn't hacked all to shit in the translation? I'm not talking about tentacle rape and that kinda nonsense, just something that's over the top with violence and everything else.

It doesn't really take long to get used to reading subs. However if you haven't regularly used them before, it's unfair to say such things, as it does require some getting used to.

Not to mention it's only 7 shows, one of which he admitted is only because it was the first he watched.

Also, this. I felt how you do now when I first started watching anime at 16 (30 now) and now I can't watch it any other way. It does not detract from it at all. I can keep up with even the crazies of subtitles while everything is going on screen.

If you're looking for another "good" dub, give Berserk a try. Adult story, lots of violence, a couple tits and my buddy swears up & down on the dub (I personally don't care for it)

I'm sure I'm forgetting others, but these are the ones that immediately came to mind. I'm sure there's a lot of fine stuff out there. I just automatically watch it in its native language

on the other hand, Johnny Yong Bosch is a legitimate case of get the fuck out of every anime. Cannot fucking bear the idea of listening to him as Lelouch.

Everytime my friends and I get into dub discussion, his name seem to come up as shining example.

But...I suppose there is a good reason I walk into my anime club meeting with a bottle of hard on a regular basis.

I've never streamed anime from Netflix, are they sourced from the DVDs or from the TV-Broadcast tapes? Most anime broadcast on TV in America was heavily edited to remove stuff like blood, use of tobacco/alcohol and tone down any sexually stimulating scenes. DVD releases are hardly ever censored if they came out in the United States and weren't distributed by 4Kids Entertainment.

Don't know about the vignetting, could you post an example of what you were seeing?

I'll leave the dub debate up to the experts, but in general distributors aren't willing to pay a whole lot for localization and anime budgets are not exactly trending upwards so you're going to hear the same 6-7 voices in almost every bit of popular dubbed anime. It's just something you have to accept if you really can't stand subtitles.

Don't bother, I ended up putting a bullet in my skull when the friend I was asking for hated most/all of my recommendations

Rightfully so though, new dubbed stuff sucks; he watched all the old ones that are decent.
