So the court said all remaining opinions will be announced on Thursday, which would include Obamacare.

I'm hoping they don't strike down the law... Would be a total step back for the country. I know it's a conservative Supreme Court but seriously; people first man.

Regardless of whether or not this gets struck down, I hope voters go into November and remember that Obama, or Romney, will be replacing one of the justices on the bench.

Wait, you don't have a choice with Obamacare anymore? I thought you could pay the fine or get insured.

It's my choice if I don't have health insurance and become debilitated and can no longer contribute to society. Fuck being healthy!

I disagree, but have no desire to start a back and forth.

Obviously, not everyone agrees, as a portion of America doesn't want the law to pass.

Some people believe that the national health care law isn't a step forward, but a step towards socialism. I agree and feel it should be prevented.

edit: The flip side is that a large portion of the country DOES want some sort of public health care option.

The ideal solution would be to give both groups what they want. I'm not sure how to provide that.

double edit, after archibald's post below: We will know soon enough. Thursday is going to be a day of angst, either way.

I hope you rail against medicare as "a step towards socialism" as well. Being like socialism doesn't preclude it from being "a step forward".

It was in my opinion. Along with medicaid and social security.

edit: spelled medicaid as medicade, because spelling is not exactly a strength.

Well, as long as you're consistent with your belief that good things about America are bad, then ok.

Just curious, how many of the other 27(?) OECD countries that have some form of government healthcare are also considered socialist?

Hell, this isn't even socialism. It's penalizing someone for not having health insurance. I don't get why the repubs aren't sucking at the teat for this (oh, yes I do, it's Obama sponsored). It eliminates underwriting, drives down costs of insurance, drives down the cost of healthcare, and, in turn, will drive down the cost of...wait for it...discretionary "entitlement" spending (medicare) which is a huge reason for the deficit we have.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

It will also make business have less of a financial burden providing its employees with a group package because that package will be cheaper, resulting in businesses having a greater share of their money able to go towards the business. Also, having your workers healthy seems like a good idea, too.
