You're a dumbass, unless Demo/Archi/aurik/correction come back with the same reply. Then I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

State's suffer from the same problems as local governments in this sense. If Alaskan roads were left up to Alaska, Alaska would have a total of 5 roads in the entire state

Illinois would still be gravel. As I posted on my FB a few days ago, that state is 40 billion in the red but I can attest that not one god damned penny went to highway maintenance. The difference in road quality traveling from Kentucky > Indiana > terrible Illinois > Missouri was startling.

As someone else posted, you'll end up paying for it in one way or another anyway. Everything around you right now got to you by traveling on a road. The cost of transporting goods will go up, the cost of goods go up, and you pay for it in the end anyway.

Just like the Obamacare nay-sayers will all pay for it one way or another in the increased medicare expenditures and tax dollars covering patients at hospitals with no insurance. Might as well at least pay for it in a way that benefits your fellow man. Cause I heard the Jesus guy was big on doing whats best for your fellow man, not on focusing on scroogely avoiding expenses for yourself.

LOL I know man, right? That $200 covers the ticket into heaven and comes with a voucher for a free hot dog and pretzel.

Because it has the money and because infrastructure upgrades benefit interstate commerce. Would suck to be a state that spent all your money only to see it go to waste because a neighboring state didn't bother.

Alright, BG potluck. Let's predict the decision.

    5-4, everything upheld.

I am doubting Kennedy, but I'll grudgingly agree with this out of hope

There's always Roberts. One of the two are going to push it through, maybe both for a 6-3.

The government didn't make us pay for [thing that didn't exist at some point during the history of this country] either at one point. What's your point?

I think it would be mutually beneficial for states to create interconnecting roads. But for the sake of argument, let's a state wouldn't simply build its own roads. Didn't Indiana just sell a huge chunk of roads to private company? Haven't seen any bitching about it.

Also, scotusblog.com for a live blog of the decision.

CNN's homepage has some pictures of people hoping it fails. One of them is a woman holding a sign that says 'OBAMACARE IS IMMORAL!'. I honestly don't think half the people know what it is, and was just told it's a club for pedophiles.

Jer: These are some of the same mouthbreathers that go to government rallies and hold up signs saying "Keep your hands off my Medicare" to Democrats (of all people). These people are going to once again be complaining when the law gets repealed and they realize they:

    - Can't have their kids on their insurance anymore.
    - Get denied for insurance cause they have a preexisting condition.
    - Their costs go back up, after having gone down cause of the ACA.
    - Wont get their refund check for money that wasn't used towards healthcare by their insurers (set to go out in August).

    You can't cure stupid.
