So, since I'm currently a contractor(hope to God I get full time in February) I have to buy insurance out of pocket. Come next year my current 875/mo plan is going to jump up to 1050/mo for a Family of 3. I have "Silver" level coverage. The Healthcare.gov site provides me with 0 deductions on any plans due to my income, even though the family plan is WELL north of 10% of my income. This is a pretty huge fuck up that Family plans weren't written into the law properly. Now it'll probably be impossible to get it fixed... Shit is bad when health insurance is basically my mortgage payment.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

And yes also give healthcare.gov and your own insurance a call, too.

My plan was originally from the HC.gov site. Not sure what they can do for me other than "new year new price'. Most likely going to swap plans and find new doctors and what not...

    doesn't hurt to try.

You can't just sit on your hands and claim there is nothing that can be done without at least trying to see what all your options are.

Did you also call hc.gov to see what can be done?

I have to when I get home since I can't login to my account anyways. It's not sitting on my hands when I just got the letter last week and then hear on the radio that they fucked on on the Family portion of the law. It's all based off individual rates.

So after shopping around again, I will be dropping my 875 plan(which will jump to 1050 next year) for a 660 plan.

What I use mostly on this plan:

    Primary Dr(for the baby): $25/visit
    Generic drugs: $10
    Deductible: $5,500 for family

We got this plan because I lost my other insurance on the same day as our baby was born. Luckily that is considered a major event and you can back date insurance to the day they're born or to the day you lose insurance.

New plan at the beginning of the year:

    Primary Dr: $15
    Generic drugs: $20
    Deductible: $11,000

Basically this plan is, "Hope shit doesn't happen until you get real insurance again plan." Should become an employee of the company I'm contracted out to sometime between Feb and May. Bleh.
