Actually, they would probably get a ton of responses and people joining in seeing as large sections of cities around here are full of illegals lol. Yeah, they recently cracked down on it with the new law (which they are bitching about... a lot), but there are still tons left.

We were bombarded at a joint check-point by a dozen haji's near COP Jelawur and the ANP whose homes were in the region were some of the first responders to the situation.

They don't care for an Afghani government but at the very least many would say they do it to protect their own families and therein lies the problem. The huge desertion rate for the Afghani security forces and the ANP who straight out don't give a fuck are mostly because they were stationed somewhere they couldn't care less about due to the tribal nature of the country. And a ridiculously high number of Afghani's are a bunch of fucking drug addicts high as balls 24/7 which doesn't help the situation at all. At the same time it's stupid to say the country isn't better off then what it was ten years ago. It's not just some stupid patriot bumper sticker shit to say. Was it worth it on our part in my opinion? Hell no. Whether it completely devolves back to buttfucking and opium remains to be seen and no one is disagreeing it more then likely will happen after we pull out.

No idea what your beef is with me in this specific thread because I think we're ultimately in agreement here unless you think this guy's article is a direct and accurate reflection of what's going on. Key clue: It's not.
With everything you've just said, I don't see how you could possibly disagree with the author's original comments.

In the article, the author bases his argument completely on personal experiences.

Except, he also cites the ANSO January quarterly report (which is not available online but Reuters state they obtained a copy; see: Davis's personal website and read the disclaimer).

He also cites Anthony Cordesman, in this report, published by the Center for Strategic and International Studies:

Since June 2010, the unclassified reporting the U.S. does provide has steadily shrunk in content, effectively ‘spinning’ the road to victory by eliminating content that illustrates the full scale of the challenges ahead,” Cordesman wrote.

“They also, however, were driven by political decisions to ignore or understate Taliban and insurgent gains from 2002 to 2009, to ignore the problems caused by weak and corrupt Afghan governance, to understate the risks posed by sanctuaries in Pakistan, and to ‘spin’ the value of tactical ISAF victories while ignoring the steady growth of Taliban influence and control.

On the American Jew being assaulted:

    Your original comment was:

    After my first rebuttal:

It's interesting that NOW, you characterize Israel (and I suppose this was Jerusalem in the video) as analogous to Alabama (your words, not mine, since I don't know what Alabama is like, but it's not the 1950s/60s/etc. anymore down there), but you did not say anything resembling that in the original thread.

What you're saying now, is essentially what I was saying back then. He was controversial in the sense that he was a Jew espousing American values about equality, in a racist apartheid State.

Instead of saying that though, you said that he was out of place, 'being in a foreign country he is loosely affiliated with.'

Two completely different statements. This is why I took exception. You are now saying something else. I never said this entire side-note had anything to do with your service.

I said it's stupid shit you say (also calling my views 'hipster', 'bleeding heart', etc.) that differentiates you from the few people on BG from a military background, who comment in political discussions.

I don't insult anyone who didn't have it coming.

Hiksomething Kisomething has said this about my comments in the past:

    How about Ashmada?

That's just one of his comments. He had been following me around in various threads and even spammed my inbox.

And everyone knows what solanis is like, but he said this (comment was deleted by mods when solanis was temp-banned):

How about you check yourself into a psychiatric clinic. That would be good for us both.
It's a fucking lie to say I just insult people out of nowhere simply because they disagree with my opinions.

The issue I am interested in the most also happens to be one of most polarizing conflicts in American politics. So it's expected that debates (not really, because solanis/Ashmada/et. al. are all trolls) get heated.

As for you - I'm not insulting you. I'm stating a simple truth: if you can't argue against someone's opinions, you attack the person instead. You attacked my 'style' and characterized the research I do for my arguments as 'looking shit up on google'. Aside from the fact that most of my sources are books - the other chunk of my sources are all mainstream periodicals/newspapers, mainstream NGO reports and declassified documents (or leaked via Wikileaks, although I don't really rely on that too much).

Oh and you said I hate White people, LOL.

You're looking way too deep into what I said. My whole point was the type of incident isn't exclusive to Israel, I told you to spare me the melodramatics because you obviously took a defensive position because it was Israel with the insinuation I condoned what happened. What I said then is no different then what I'm saying now.

It's pretty obvious you seem to take certain things personal. Calm down bro.

That would be the case if you had only made the comment in question and no others.

Except, that's not the truth at all.

You accused me of antisemitism in a really weasel/underhanded way in a thread that had nothing to do w/ Israel-Palestine (it was the kid-got-knifed-thread).

Your original comment was deleted after you were temp-banned for it. I pressed the issue before that happened though and you said 'why would you think, I meant you?'

Of course you meant me. Here was an earlier comment you made, which I've already cited:

It's not very difficult or a giant logical leap of faith, to ascertain that given A) Jewish identity is only brought up in the periphery of I-P-related discussions and B) there are only a few commentators on BG (myself included) who are regulars in these kinds of threads, that you meant me!

I mean it was obvious - which made your attempts to play the accusation off as simply paranoia on my part, that much more insulting.

Then Ashmada. Ashmada came into the thread and said I was diverting the discussion (instead of you, since you originally posted the comment about antisemitism). When I asked him who he thought you meant, honestly - he didn't answer me. He just said I was paranoid.

Well compare Ashmada's lying statement to the one I cited above where he says I read Mein Kampf (a comment he was not suspended for, and which he later edited so he would present himself as less of a troll).

I was right, so when you tell me to 'calm down bro', while simultaneously ignoring your past instigating comments - I don't have much reason to believe you.

I honestly didn't mean you in the knife-thread, was just talking nonsense because BG in general tend to crack jokes at jews all the time. You baited for whatever reason, I instigated you, we got temp-banned lol. And you're putting way too much weight on that "we're done here" comment, I made the post trolling because it was at a time where half the front page was flooded with Political/Middle East threads mostly made by you or Kuya. Thus the response from other posters before I even came along.

I'll legitimately try to be more serious with you from now on because you're obviously very passionate about this stuff and there's now a dedicated sub-forum for the content. I admittedly shouldn't lol/umad anymore, not on the poopdeck at least.

I have never made an Israel-Palestine thread before the sub-forum. It was always Kuya or someone else (not that it even matters).

Unless there's something wrong w/ the search function on these forums, that's the case.

I'm not as passionate about these issues as people think. I don't expect anyone to just sit around and let people attack them. It's not a rule that the act of articulating a response in detail implies passion. I've already read the books. I know where to find my sources quickly. So that's how I write a reply.

If I relied purely on conjecture, would people take me seriously? Some don't even w/ all the detail. I think it's just my particular opinion and nothing to do w/ the elaboration.

    EDIT:

This is the ONE, ME-related thread I have ever made on BG (before the sub-forum; again providing the search function is working correctly):

    http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/914...ters-Employees

That thread was going to happen one way or the other. It was a big story.

    Bump.

So it was apparently only two days from the last comment in this thread (Feb. 9th), that the document referred to in the OP was released. It's cited now by the NY Times and Rolling Stone, among other papers.

    Dereliction of Duty II
    Published: February 11, 2012

In an unclassified report, Army Lt. Col. Daniel L. Davis asserts that senior ranking U.S. military leaders have distorted the truth when communicating with the Congress and American people in regards to conditions on the ground in Afghanistan.
Link to the report: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2...documents.html via the NY Times.

Also here, cited by Rolling Stone.

    I'll try again.

There's nothing groundbreaking or even mildly interesting in that report.

    Or your posts.

    K.

So what is ground-breaking? Someone pointing out that something isn't groundbreaking?

This thread was about a supposed 'whistle-blower' (or something along those lines). The main article alluded to the report I just posted. At the time this thread was created though, said report was not yet unclassified.

So I bumped the thread w/ the most pertinent piece of information to the OP.

I know it's not groundbreaking to say wars are often promoted w/ lies or half-truths, but we aren't examining a piece of history. We're talking about current events. So the report matters, even if a mouth-breathing tard thinks otherwise.

Don't worry, my ex-girlfriend was tarded. She's a pilot now.
