Need help from a video capture guru

    Greetings,

It's now time again for me to re-enter the world of video capture. I'll be using it for a blog I want to make while I play Tera. Anyway, there is one big mystery I can't figure out.

I record my videos using Fraps and compress them with VirtualDub. What I don't understand is how/when/why when I upload them to youtube do I get these 2 black "letter box bars" on my videos? I play/record at 1920x1080 which is 16:9 right? According to youtube this is the "ideal" format etc. Here is what my videos look like:

Unless I misread the info on youtube, I don't think Im suppose to be getting those bars.... am I? O_o Any help is appreciated.

Your video is 2328x1080. How did you encode it?

How did you find that info out? The info of the file on my comp still shows 1920x1080 (see pic) I am using the suggested divic codec for that res. (recording at 30fps)

    Spoiler: show

Right click->show video info on youtube.

No idea why youtube thinks the res is 2328x1080. Try reuploading it?

Also, divx is terrible, use h.264.

Wow, that is nuts. Something in my codec must be doing that... Off a quick suggestion I tried windows movie maker and sure enough, its not a problem

I will look into the format you suggested, thanks a lot for your help!
