Synopsis:

From Aldamisa Productions : "The second film in the Machete trilogy finds Machete mourning the loss of his beloved Sartana, slain during a run in with the cartels. Machete is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man. Machete must battle his way through Mexico to take down a cartel leader, Mendez the Madman, who threatens to fire a missile on the US. Machete foils Mendez's plot only to find that the missiles are remote wired to and triggered by the madman’s still beating heart. The only man who can disarm the missile is eccentric billionaire arms dealer, Luther Voz, who has hatched a plan of his own to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space. Machete takes on Voz and his army in order to dismantle his master plan for global anarchy".

Robert Rodriguez's first Machete was ridiculously over the top and fun. Needless to say it would be fun to see a sequel. Rodriguez has talked about the film being a trilogy, and he's now moving forward on the next chapter in the franchise, Machete Kills. It's going to be great to see the adventures of the blade-wielding Mexican ex-Federale continue.

The new film finds Machete recruited by the U.S. Government for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man. Machete must battle his way through Mexico to take down a madman cartel leader and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space. Machete takes on an army in an effort to dismantle a plan for global anarchy.

Rodriguez is teaming up with producer Alexander Rodnyansky. As for what we can expect for the sequel, the filmmaker said, "The fan response to the Machete character has been fanatical since his first appearance. Machete is truly a super hero and Machete Kills will be bigger and more ambitious than the first time." So I guess we can expect seeing some much more epic Machete kills.

Talks are currently underway with Danny Trejo to reprise his role, as well as many of the other surviving cast members. They are looking to start shooting the film in April. And just incase you forgot and were wondering what the third film will be called, it's Machete Kills Again.

Last week news hit that Robert Rodriguez wanted Mel Gibson to take on a supporting role in Mechete Kills. Today it's being reported that the filmmaker is actually now in "serious discussions" to join the project, which I think is pretty awesome. Gibson's gotta do something to help his tarnished image, this is something that hasn't been easy for him. This seems like it would be a fun project for him to be involved with.

If cast he'll join Danny Trejo, who plays the title role. In the sequel Machete is drafted by the US government to track an arms dealer through Mexico before he can launch a rocket. This will of course lead into the third film called Machete Kills Again... In Space.

Robert Rodriguez is pulling together yet another great cast for Machete Kills. He recently landed Mel Gibson to play a villain in the movie, got Michelle Rodriguez and Jessica Alba to reprise their roles along side Danny Trejo. He has now managed to talk Amber Heard and Modern Family's Sofia Vergara to be in the movie as well.

Vergara would take on a leather-clad character named Madame Desdemona, whose Mexican harlots have information that Machete needs. Heard will play a manipulative assassin code-named Miss San Antonio.

The movie starts production later this month.
