Surprised nobody started this thread. Don't care for the holiday too much personally but sometimes it's fun reading what other people have to write about.

Personally don't have anything planned yet. Might buy some chocolates for friends but atm, that's it.

That's what I wanted since I get constantly complained to about not saving enough money so we can move back out of my mom's(her fault we had to move in there in the first place) but I guess I'm supposed to make reservations for an expensive night out all by myself instead despite being her having half the week off and plenty of time to do that. This 'holiday' is garbage, showing affection spontaneously actually means something, doing it solely because the calendar says this is the designated day of the year to prove you actually give a shit about your SO is asinine.

Before I met my wife, I think I went 8 years of S.A.D. without really giving a shit. Thankfully the wife is pretty laid back. I'll admit the first year I know she cried cause I called my dad to drive me to the store since I was two days off from having my appendix yanked out and had flowers waiting, but for the most part she's never been big on that stuff. Flowers are typically bad in our place anyways since both our cats think they will never be fed again and will nom on anything they can get there paws on.

Yeah I agree, Christmas is so asinine too. I'd rather give gifts to show thanks throughout the year, not on some specified "holiday season"

I'm all for fighting the power, but Valentine's Day is not one of those days. Man the fuck up and do something nice for your girl. You'll get bonus points if you surprise her with something special after making it clear that you couldn't give a fuck about the day.

Gonna go down to NYC and try to hit up some tourist-y spots and go to Stage Deli since it's the only place there I've been to and was all OMG THIS IS AMAZING and the bf ate the leftovers and wished he had gone. Usually we each pick something and make it a surprise. Often it's something small and easy.

We do however, put both our anniversary (Jan 4) and V-day together as far as gifts or going out.

Last year I convinced my girlfriend that I had something to do and could only see her for like 15 minutes. When she got to my house I had dinner prepared and gifts and flowers like a boss. Next night she surprised me with lingerie. Everybody won.
