The current server population limits are there for balance reasons and are probably not permanent, but we'll have to see what happens. I have little doubt that VoT will get flooded just as quickly when the population cap is increased to retail level though, so people are going to need to be fast if we decide to stick to it.

I deleted my character on VoT and remade it within a minute or so without any problems, this was about 30 minutes ago though.

It checks your name and saves it as soon as you type it in? I'd like to remake as well. Not that I think my name is popular, I just want to make sure I get a character spot saved. It would be just my luck to delete and have the server fill back up in the minute it takes to recreate.

No, you must press the "Finish" button for it to actually 'save' your name.
You can put your name on, and it'll check if it's taken or not, but it won't actually hold it for you.
