My daughter thought it would be funny/rebellious/cool to post on her Facebook wall just how upset she was and how unfair her life here is; how we work her too hard with chores, never pay her for chores, and just in general make her life difficult.

She chose to share this with the entire world on Facebook and block her parent's from seeing it. Well, umm... she failed. As of the end of this video, she won't have to worry anymore about posting inappropriate things on Facebook...

Maybe a few kids can take something away from this... If you're so disrespectful to your parents and yourself as to post this kind of thing on Facebook, you're deserving of some tough love. Today, my daughter is getting a dose of tough love.

Yea the issue is that she had been grounded previously for the exact same thing, so she hadn't learned her lesson. My only issue is lamenting the perfectly good laptop that is now toast-- what a waste!

Well after the explanation from the father about what his daughter posted for everyone to see on facebook, its pretty clear she is either very spoiled or very spoiled. The daughter raged about her parents publicly, so the father decided it would be best to show his daughter what that felt like. Seems reasonable to me, he bought that laptop, he even upgraded it for her, during the initial 3 month grounding for doing something similar, he destroys the laptop. No one got hurt and a lesson was learned.

while I agree with the reasonable paragraph in the OP, I find the use of a gun in any relation to discipline to be completely unfathomable and reprehensible. It's an implied threat and a reminder that Daddy has a gun and knows how to use it.

Do I think he will ever use it on the daughter? Of course not, but confiscating it or selling it are a much better alternative.

Thats the thing though, from what i gather he was not tough father, he bought her electronics she had average amount of chores, (they have a cleaning lady) so she can't be doing to much. You can hear it in his response that she had it easy. Also he did not do what she did not do to them....other then destroying electronics.

I guess i can ask another question for you, what would you do that he did not do differently? Remember, according to him she is a repeat offender of this very thing.

It's a 15 year old girl, she's going to act like her parents are the gestapo regardless of how they treat her. She needs to learn to show some respect at some point and not bitch about the people who provide everything she owns.
