Attempting to apply logic to lottery tickets makes about as much sense as attempting to figure out what rabbit species gives the best luck when you lop its foot off, the best way to trap Bigfoot, or who Yhwh likes the best. You're begging the question.

I will buy a random # ticket if there is big jackpot.

I'd buy my mom a new car, my dad a boat. And the rest a down payment on a primo condo unit. Take my close friends to Las Vegas for the weekend. Buy a food cart and the rest goes into the bank.

If you only buy a ticket when the jackpot is big(What do you consider big?) then what kind of Condo are you putting a down payment on that eats up the rest of your winnings?

What kind of backwater Canadian lottery are you playing? Powerball starts at $40M and MegaMillions starts at $12M but takes like 2 drawing days of no one winning to get over $25M. You would be playing almost 4 times a week in the states. I only play when MegaMillions is above $100M and Powerball is above $150M.

Well I try to rationalize it by only playing over a certain limit so I can use a smaller portion of my disposable income. That equates to only playing on average once a month instead of 4 times a week. Just a personal rule of thumb I suppose.

In canada we dont lose 80% of lottery winnings to taxation?

I should probably start playing the lotto more often than I do. As of now its a once-a-year thing, but I should pay attention and start playing when mega millions is over 100 mil. If I won I'd switch to a contractor (since I love what I do, just don't want to do as much of it as I currently am), houses for rents/brother, New ZL1 to go with my SS, a small beachfront condo in Ocean City, and fade away into obscurity.

Of course, if I won, I'd also privately fund our official "Practice Impregnating Them All: BG Japan Trip Extravaganza~!!" trip to Japan that was discussed in the interracial dating thread.

hey's parents won the lottery when he was 5, then when he was 18 he killed them both because they said he still had to get a job and couldn't leech off their lotto winnings... then he found out the only thing left to him in their will was letters of recommendation for job interviews.

This is why he hates parents and hates the lottery.

Over here in England the main lotteries are the National Lottery and Euromillions. National Lottery draws are every Wednesday and Saturday at £1 a pop. I have a direct debit mandate set up for one of the days and me and my brother split the other between us. I used to do Euromillions once a week at £2 a ticket. Then they introduced an extra day and I couldn't afford that so I ended up gradually dropping the Euromillions altogether. I'll do it if it's a really big jackpot though. Also, Lucky Dips only. I couldn't stick to the same numbers everytime just in case that one time I didn't play and they came up.

lol... I wish people would stop saying that. We get it, the odds tremendously stacked against you is an understatement. But let's not pretend that no one smarter or better with numbers than you has never played the lottery.
