Uh, not really. Were your chances of dying 99.9999999999999999999999999999999%? It may have been a gamble (it could have helped a lot, or killed you right away), but to compare that to a lottery is retarded. Although the stakes were much higher, you had a reasonable chance to survive.

There are plenty of other ways to gamble that don't have nearly as terrible odds. The lottery is as bad as it gets.

What difference does it really make? Do you only purchase necessities? People obviously get enjoyment from purchasing and seeing if they've won. Fuckin' holier than thou attitude is so annoying. Not a good look.

I used to buy MtG cards in packs even though I knew the odds of ever making my money back were abysmally low, and that singles were a far better investment. didn't matter; every time I opened a pack and combed through the cards (saving the rare for last of course) I got a little thrill. and the few times I got something awesome - foil Reya, Thoughtseize - it was a great feeling.
