15/15 nyzul gear, brb GMing everyone.
Can you lock SCH 2hr on the starting lamp? The lamp that tells you your floor objective.
Yeah... You know, I can understand it to a degree if it's something which actually affects others directly in a negative way, but nyzul? Not like the fact that someone fleehacking in there will make any kind of difference to anyone not in that particular party. Meh. Petty people.
I can't speak for others but I know it bothered me personally that people thought we clippered purely because we had 100 gear. I'd also be lying if I said it wasn't slightly frustrating early on when we were getting tons of near misses whilst other groups were clearing because they used clipper and we did not.
With that being said, it would take an awful lot for me to ever GM someone, if at all. I mean I didn't even GM people who were blatantly fleehacking at stupid speeds (above actual flee speed) when competing against me for Colorless Souls back when ApRadar / ASE worked.
GM'ing people for something that you can't even see so have no idea if it's actually true or not is massively dickish and just reeks of jealousy or holding a grudge. Grudges are retarded and childish at the best of times anyway.
Heh, yeah I don't like being accused of doing something I'm not either (does anybody??) - like this, otw to Akvan as war wearing Hermes Sandals...

And even if I did use clipper I wouldn't be so stupid as to blatantly use it in front of just anybody.
But yes, totally agree with what you say Jem. Moral of the story - just don't use clipper in NI and don't go with anybody that you know will use it, the gear is awesome but not worth losing your account over.
SE will never balance this content now, ever, because ppl using 3rd pty tools have gotten a lot of 100 gear. its been said before and i don't want to rehash the same argument, but thats probably why ppl are GMing other players over this. they're bitter xbox/ps2/non windower/non clipper ppl, and they're justifiably bitter
They already did?
If you're a xbox/ps2/non windower person, you can team up with friends who use .dat swaps and such, gives you as much a chance of winning as windower people. As for our group being GMed, I know that was personal and nothing else.
stopper + KIs = balanced? i guess ... sort of. i believe someone broke it down earlier that you'd need like 75~ runs with decent luck to get 25 floor 80 clears
to the people getting banned: maybe it would help if you didn't openly post on forums that youre hacking? that certainly doesn't help your case, especially when i know people that are so butthurt over dat swaps alone that they would GM over it
While I've generally been surprised by people so openly discussing this, on top of them posting screenshots of them with all their shit working (wallhack, fillmode etc)...SE has explicitly stated in the past that anything outside of what happens in FFXI that they see can not be used to prove someones legitimacy. So if someones calling a GM saying "I think this persons hacking in Nyzul cuz they post it on BG" (how they're getting a GM in less than 30 minutes is astounding also) and they're actually investigating is a stretch. Then again, SE does have a representative(s) who read the forums, so its possible they're taking names to keep tabs on.
I'm more suprised at the butthurt over getting GMd. Oh yeah someone might not have GMd you for the "right" reasons. But at the end of the day you were cheating amongst people cheating worse. Getting pissed at the people who reported you is kinda silly. You knew the risk when you started
I think the openness on BG served several purposes:
1) It overstretched our handling of glitches. One of the major uproars during the Salvage bans was the fact that only a few people participated. Secrecy + Limited participation often heightens the severity of the ban.
2) In a way, people used that as a complaint. An event only continuously doable using mechanics that violate the TOA is a poor event design. Supposedly, this gives fuel for people complaining about the event, but that never happened because people think that any complaint along that line is necessarily complaining about 3PP in general.
3) It's not the first time people report using tools for an event.
Not to mention it took about 30 seconds on the test server for me to go, "Oooookay, people are going to be clippin all over this bitch." and proclaim Nyzul Isle a fleehacker's paradise. It's such an obvious advantage when you spend so much time running.
well, i meant more like just being open with hacks in regards to your character. sure it doesn't prove as evidence, but it can make some butthurt "justice seeker" on your server go "hey GM, you should monitor this guy"
Generally speaking, I think the problem that people have (speaking as a person who is not using tools and probably won't be doing much Nyzul anymore) is that in approximately 3 hours of time, using 3rd party tools, you can put together a set of gear that is better than anything anyone got in the past 10 years of playing the game.
While Nyzul itself is designed problematically in that it essentially encourages the use of third party tools by design, the fundamental problem is that gear as good as the F100 sets should never have appeared in a luck-based event like Nyzul. The sets which are currently on F80 should have been located on F100, and the ascent should have been designed so that the current difficulty to F80 was approximately the difficulty to F100. Then I don't think people would have even cared about tools (people would still have used them, but no one would have cared). If you discount F100 gear completely, even the majority of F80 gear ranges from useful sidegrades to complete upgrades in many cases. The F100 gear in Nyzul should have been top tier rewards from Legion or something else.
If I remember correctly from the community team post a while back, the intent was that F60 was the Joe Schmo floor, F80 was the "if you try hard and get a little lucky" floor and F100 was the "if you try really hard and get really, really lucky" floor. That's about correct from the runs I've done without any 3PP, so for the people expecting any more rebalancing, I think the current design is as intended and I don't think anything's going to change.
Friend in game said he have just watched live stream of JPs who randomly GM every NA/EU group trying to do NI...
