What did the message say? Surely it's something that could be found embedded in the zone data.

Couldn't tell you, was over a year ago. I believe I posted a picture of it in a thread here at some point, but no idea which. Was just wondering if the lamp port up mechanic worked similarly.

SE turns an event that was near perfect from the start into an event that basically hands you nigh instant failure if you happen to roll the dice and end up on an order lamp floor because the very nature of the event gives you no time to experiment with lamp orders like the original. So are people just supposed to enter and hope they don't instantly fail? Oh well, just another 24 hours before a tag reloads and I can roll the objectives dice again.

And people wondered why Nyzul did so poorly from day 1? The deck is already stacked heavily against you in random floor jumps that can end even the most virulent tool abusers, order lamps that are complete time vampires, 25 kills to get one drop, useless drops below floor 80 and an overall feeling of being a total waste of time for your average player. Back in the day events going to waste might have been cool or whatnot but in a game where that Nyzul Uncharted patch constituted 50% of a version update are we really surprised when people 'even the odds' to varying degrees in order to you know... enjoy the content?

Look at Legion if you want to compare Nyzul to an event no one can do anything with because it sucks. Legion, the event that was supposed to be the centerpiece of the last version update that no one currently gives a shit about outside a few core groups.

It's funny if it weren't so sad.
Quoted from a poster way back when, but I think this pretty much hit the nail on the head. It pains me so deeply to see how bad SE f***ed Uncharted because Investigation was such a blast, and one of the few things of it's time that was actually well-balanced. I really, really hope SE balances things out for Uncharted so players not wanting to use third party tools have an actual shot at reaching floor 100 and winning.

Please don't start that again lol.

Yeah, it is way too luck based, and definitely needs to be tweeked. But it is absolutely doable without clipper/fleehax/ w/e else. Get powders, get properly geared, get players that don't suck, get used to the event with eachother, profit.

Took our group about 2 months to see 1 win, then we just clicked and finished up all 15 pieces within the next 3 months (including a 2-3 week break at one point).

You're a fucking idiot no one cares how terrible your group does or how you want the game to be fixed around your skill level. Either man the fuck up, get better people in your group and get it done or stfu and buy pieces from people who know how to get shit done.

In his defense, most of the people that sell spots in runs are using speedhacks.

Really is no excuse not to get it done now though. Do it right and you'll win eventually.

Speaking of luck, my group had all of the DD die because of full retard positioning on a leader floor and got 2 free floors, a code next to the rune, and a single enemy also next to the rune. Still won with SIX minutes left. That's never happening again. Ever.

    Seconding this.

Yes, it is waaaay too luck based, but at the same time, it's friendly in that you only need to win a maximum of 15 runs (prob less) to max out on gear and never have to do it again.

It took my group (I only knew one person when I joined) 3-4 weeks to get our first win, after many many demoralizing losses, and then it took another 1-2 weeks for us to see a 2nd win. But a little after that, we started going 1/3~2/4 every single time we went, and we have yet to have a set of runs where we didn't win at least one of them.

Even though it looks and feels like you're making no progress, as long as you run with the same group and you don't suck too much, your group should actually be making progress in terms of teamwork and synergy, and you'll eventually pass the point where you'll start getting wins pretty often.

I fucking hated this event at the start, and it frustrated me to no end, but now it's a bit reminiscence of early salvage, when you would start out sucking but you would keep going with the same people, and the teamwork and friendship would just become stronger over time. Main difference being nyzul is all or nothing, but you cap a looooooooooot faster. (Better than the "maybe a little" 2-5% of the time for one person and absolutely fucking nothing for everyone the rest of the time)

I know you said most but we usually take 2-3 buyers with us at a time and only use fillmode. Have the two DD buyers follow our two DDs and have the other buyer a sch who does run around. Only time it gets really shitty is on 4-5 lamp order but hey most of the time if you get 2 lamp order floors in a run its over anyway lol

This. You can go back in this thread and you'll see me fairly vitriolic over the whole thing. As I kept doing it with the same group we got better, eventually got our first win (which was one of those ridiculously exciting FFXI moments that are so few and far between with the game as it is today), and then quickly capped out on gear over the next month or two. I still think it was a poor choice to put such incredible gear in such a retardedly luck-based event, but my incredibly negative opinion to start was definitely tempered over time to be only slightly negative. All that said, clearly the whole thing is going to be dramatically different once double Embrava strategy is gone, and it remains to be seen whether it will be better or worse.

NNI new strat will still deter some people from doing it. As teamwork is still required to do this event. I feel there is no real guide to help players. I have a static and we're nearly 15/15, probaly 4 pieces away on average for each member. I missed this weeks runs due to RL situations. Decided to go with a random pickup group. It's amazing how these groups have no idea how to do NNI. Wasting time at the start, asking when to do Embrava, SCH standing around and not doing regen and other spells, all the DD's running in the same direction, confusion for lamp floors. All these little things add up and can make or break a run. And this doesn't even include gear. My group has 2 relics and 2 other DD's with lack of Emp/Relic and we do fine.

To anyone reading and intersted in doing NNI. Do research, ask veterans on how to save time and form a group that is willing to learn and can communicate with each other. 4 DD (War,Sam,Drk,Blu) and 2 SCH (AF3+2 Hands, 475+ Enhancing and knows how to cure, buff) is the basic setup. Your first 2 weeks will be rough but if your group works at it, you will eventually get a win. A win is a total rush and its why I love NNI.

Funny how many recent posts describing this event start of by slating how retardedly luck based it is and end by saying how after so many failed runs you got your first win and capped out fairly quickly afterwards. Fact is that while there is obviously a degree of luck involved but the chance of getting 'unwinnable' combinations of jumps/floors are few and far between as most groups attain decent win rates by the time they cap out on gear.

This content is nowhere nearly as badly designed as people constantly make out, SE did a reasonable (and lazy) job of working within the constraints of 10+ year old platform whilst having no staff.

So please lets not have another 170 pages of QQing over how you need to cheat to get wins

It's not terribly designed, it's terribly tuned.

Lots of people don't like the idea of an event, bare in mind with the best gear in the game for most situations, being designed around a relatively large luck factor. Me included.

What I feel is going to happen is one of two things:

    1) It gets further changes before the next update
    2) It isn't changed further, but eventually the new expansion comes out and all of the returning players complain enough that it is nerfed significantly

I'm not sure if either is necessary, but that remains to be seen.

On a slightly related note, if your DDs are really good you can win perhaps even easier with 3x DD, BRD, SCHx2. The songs are nice, and the BRD can pull some trickier mobs. Horde Lullaby is great too.

I think they just need to remove the random floor jumps and the event would be fine. It'd still have some luck involved in terms of the kinds of floors you get, but I personally wouldn't mind that since randomly generated floors keep the event from getting too stale.

The point I am disputing is that everyone makes out like a large percentage of runs are no-wins due to the luck factor. The reality is that the vast majority of runs are winnable with a good group without anything but basic windower + mumble/skype/vent.

The random floor jumps is probably disliked by most but there isn't really an elegant way of fixing the floor jumps to get to 100, 5 being too few and 10 making it too easy and I don't see them changing it to something like 6 jumps so you go 96 > 100.

The random jumps is the funny part of this event, I like to be on fl 98 with 2 mins left, pop drinks and get trollfaced with fl99 kill all and tons of NMs.

Well if you replace the 98 with a 97 it's still a true statement. :<

Must have been 97 yeah. One of our static members even sent me a SS with a trollface inside, I was pissed off but at same time found it really funny.
