Yes, gear requirements are overrated assuming you have stronger DDs to carry. I ran it with 3 pickups every time i ran but my Sam is very well geared and we had a static 490 enhancing SCH and a 95 Spharai. The other DDs were almost irrelevant except for being scouts for myself and the Monk and clearing trash. I would say that not ALL the DDs can be average and you need a strong DD or two to burn the high HP mobs if you want to win with consistency. At the end of our runs we were winning 50-60% and thats carrying buyers who were mentally challenged. So burn your tags quickly and try to sneak in a few wins before it becomes much harder with Embrava nerf...

Nope. Need competent gear choices, mix of at least AH, AF3, AF2+2 (depending on job), and stuff like that.

We won 2/4 the other night (with 2 fl80 wins for the other two) helping an lsmate on WAR who has no E/R/M, NNI, abj. gear, or anything nuts for his WAR. Used Raging Rush, it worked.

Sometimes it just takes competence and communication.

Also, SCHs.. hit 450 enhancing and just roll with it. After the update, then worry about hitting 500.

It always takes competence and communication. The gear is for when you get some bad breaks and have to make up time.

The thing we noticed the most after running for a while is that people new to the group or to the event didn't have a good idea of how fast everything needs to be. You can't hesitate, you have to be always doing something towards completing the goal. So a DD who stands at the rune for a while figuring things out or a SCH who messes up casting constantly are just slowing you down. They pick it up fast but people who have been before tend to respond more quickly to whatever's at hand.

Some method of communication outside of party chat is an absolute must if you want to clear Neo Nyzul consistently, honestly. Use Skype, Mumble, something. Get familiar with your group. I would also strongly echo .DAT modding lamps and NMs with Bryth's Neo Nyzul xml. It's super helpful to be able to ballpark how many lamps are going to be on your floor, or what a particular NM may spam at you, even if the DAT mod doesn't tell you what the order is exactly.

My group ran with ApocDRK, CaladbolgDRK, 2x VereMNK and 2x SCH with 450+ Embrava sets. We finished everyone's sets 15/15 with only 5 losses (mostly due to bad jumps).

An easy Embrava set for an aspiring SCH to would be:
Savant's Bracers +1 (+2 is even better, but Embrava can be recast).
Savant's Bonnet +1 (+2 is much, much better for the Regen enhancement). +8/+10
Scholar's Pants (AF1, use with Light Arts). +15.
    Enhancing or Colossus's Torque. +7.
    Enhancing Merits 8/8. +16.

The NQ gear in that set puts you right at 450 Enhancing skill, and besides Colossus's Torque none of that gear requires a significant investment in time or gil to acquire.

Some other fairly easy-to-get items include:
Argute Gown +2. The augment will give you even more skill based on your merit level in Enlightenment. +9-19.
Kirin's Pole, augmented with Genbu Scrap. +1-12
    Merciful Cape. +5.
    Savant's Treatise. +4.
    Fulcio Grip. +3.
    Cascade Belt. +3.

Whenever a SCH sees that an objective is complete, they should be immediately pressing Accession macro to be ready to cast a buff on the next floor. Divvy up buffs according to gear each SCH has.

That's too late. The team should be communicating when they don't see mobs or the specific target is about to die. You need to precharge that shit prior to goal completion. Every moment counts.

Split the DD's into 2 groups and get each to go a certain direction for each jump. Communication for lamp floors. If you can master these 2 things, you'll be ahead of the game. O fillmode helps if you use windower. =D

Yeah. By the time you get a message saying the floor is done you could have already hit the lamp to get started on the menus. Waiting for that message to hit the lamp loses at least 2-3 seconds if you're gonna charge a strategem right before instead of spamming the lamp like you should.

Stratagems last a minute anyways, there's a general time most floors take to complete so you can just eye-ball it, before getting hit by the stupid animation lock on the rune.

As for Skype, never needed it with my static. Outside of lamps or general direction to get to NM (N/E/S/W), we don't really say anything the whole run.

This also helps a shitload so you don't end up with 3 DDs running into a DE, or people being stupid and ganging up on a single fodder mob if it's not last.

Only if you can't type good. Never needed skype. One group I was with used it but I think that was mainly because they didn't want the buyer to know they were using dat mods etc. My first group never did.

same here, my 1. group i got all my 15/15 nyzul armor never used skype, Typing was fine (that was pre nyzul isle allowing to jump for 11 floors). Only thing we used was lamp dat swaps and everyone had powderboots. The first 5-10 runs will most likely be your group adjusting to itself and getting used to nyzul isle. There is a learning curve and getting used to it. (alot of groups that start measure the 1. run which is initally false, you have to get used to NNI and your teamwork/synergy gets better with every run).

I've probably done an even amount of NNI runs with and without skype and haven't really noticed a difference.

Just need to learn how to split up and mow down kill all floors efficiently and quickly process order lamp floors.

Yeah, you can do it without skype just fine, but it's a little slower for certain things. But if people type "DE N" for dead end North. Call for Help on enemy leaders, and stuff like that; you should be just fine.

Skype helps a little if you use a controller and actually know people's voices. Otherwise it's only good for telling people you're going to embrava on the next floor or to sit still so that they don't miss it.

Which you can tell them during the floor-up animation.

personally i find lamp order to be easier without skype, i cant remember the sequence and shift people around in my head quite as easily. everything else, skype (or ventrilo or whathaveyou) is definitely nice to have

Started with SCH/BRD/4xmellee had SCH+5 mellee in the middle and finished with 2SCH 4 mellee

Levels seem smaller with less mobs and on early floors the mobs go down significantly easier. Troll floor bosses in particular go down fast.
Even without embrava (or especially without embrava!) SCH still very strong because of the ease of its AoE buffs, Regen V, Phalanx and Adlo are probably more important without Embrava...

I was thinking could have good chances with SCH COR DDx4. SCH roaming with DD checking Blue Chests, there is a slim chance a Revite will pop in them. Once you get one, can embrava on the next jump, then use revite to reset. I squeezed in 15/15 on both my characters, so luckily I don't have to worry about it anymore!
COR just sits at Rune, gives regain. But, I dunno, rolls could kill a bit of time.
