I dont understand the qq about waiting for songs every floor. They take what like 5 seconds to cast? Before with 2 sch you still waited for phalanx regen firestorm enfire on most ports already.
Agreed.i just failed twice with SCH, ghorn/harp BRD, ragna DRK, ukon WAR, spharai MNK and relic NIN. we made it to 89 and 82... its doable really. but ppl need to get used to this different setup first.
We did two runs to test. Had a new BRD with us, and a NIN that'd never gone before. Otherwise 2x DRK, SAM, SCH.
First run we got completely boned on jumps.
Second run we made it to floor 93.
It's doable. Annoying, but doable. A crew that made it to floor 100 before could probably do so now with solid communication and being used to this set up, and floor 80 pretty reliably.
Embrava nerf' still kind of annoying. It's not like it made the events 100% victory.
COR is much better than BRD it seems. Instant buffing saves so much time and the regain from COR and SCH is almost as good as embrava against the weaker monsters. We were able to clear one out of three runs. Made it to floor 80 once and win floor 100 twice but only won one due to running out of time. Full setup was COR SCH SAM DRG MNK WAR. It wasn't uncommon to start each mob I ran to with over 100 TP and instantly 1-shot them with a WS. Had bad jumps most of the night and was able to clear many floors in less than a minute.
Who was staying at rune in your setup?
I'm bit confused as to how COR is instant bufffing given PR is on a 1 min cooldown without merits and you will almost always have to double up (often more then once) to get a number that's worth it. When you take into consideration that tact roll only gives 1 tp ever 3 seconds for 1-7 (baring 5 since it's lucky) that's only 20 tp per minute or 40 if you are using Navarch body +2.
I'm imagining not being OCD on rolls. I do the same for legion: stop trying to DU beyond 6 because busting eats so much damn time when you need to roll 4-5 times (winning streak merits really help with frequency of rolling). Save SE to get lucky number or to DU off an unlucky and move on.
That's sorta my point though, unless you're taking the time to DU Tact roll isn't really that great on it's own. Don't get me wrong I happen to love COR, but I am having a hard time finding a place for it in NNI that wouldn't be better served by a BRD or even another heavy DD.
Oh I can tell You why they think COR is better than BRD.
1. Because most BRDs doesnt have fast cast gear. Gimps that made BRD in abyssea just to have one.
2. Most BRDs have no idea how to sing correctly and what nightingale and troubadour actually do so they wont use it or they will overwrite songs every floor
1-2 tic regain and ~18%DA or +attack is NOWHERE near to what gives you double marches ( Assuming normal BRD w/o relic/empy ). Also for all 3 N/T songs you can also use Marcato so its gonna be +32% haste (capped magic haste with Haste from SCH) For Ghorn BRD its gonna be + almost +40% haste. So almost magic haste cap even when your haste spell will wear off. COR have no chance to beat this.
All that before Daurdabla which would improve BRD even more.
Not to mention epic BRD with 99 M/R with +40% haste with 3x insta cast songs
Also About NNI... I have cool setup :D Daurdabla 90/ghorn99 BRD and 5x BLU :D :D Victory march (Marcato when possible) and Ballad3/2 ( 15 tic refresh just from songs) :D :D
As with most things gear is going to be a huge factor. I can imagine a bard that has lots of casting time gear would be able to keep up a little better. I also forgot to mention the time we did win we had a little over 5 minutes left. So at the very least it seems a little easier overall.
Edit for question : COR stayed at rune.
Leave bard a rune, bard ports up, gets to do stuff 1 second before anyone else...start singing a song, have it finish just as others are able to move again.
Weird, when I port up on SCH, I'm last to get to move...
Yeah for reals, there should be no reason that singing a song on port up should ever remotely slow down the run. Singing a song is faster than one roll + one DU assuming you're waiting to see if the first roll was lucky or not. Furthermore as mentioned, marches are just better.
If you're a gimp BRD who can only cast 3 songs for NNI, what would your third be? Since I assume first two would be Marches.
Minuet? ==> sounds good but at least for the first 60 floors if not more (given the level reduction) 2H jobs using good food would just be at cap or close to that?
Paeon? ==> but for 11hp/tic... sounds so small that would it really makes a difference?
Lol at madrigal or Scherzo, then what else? Minne to allow them to keep Berserk up?
mambo might take a little pressure off your sch ... but i do see your point.
Above a certain floor (which? 60? 80?) Minuet could be useful of course, especially because after a certain floor NMs start being annoying.
Paeon sounds like a waste until/if they tweak it to give higher values.
Mambo could be a nice idea I didn't think about, but how much +eva does Dragonfoe Mambo approximately give?
And I wasn't joking about Minne btw, it gives like 100ish Defense? It's not bad at all. Given the changes to defense from the last patch, it might actually make a difference, no? Or give your DDs the chance to use Berserk without worrying as much as without it.
~130DEF and its probably by far a best idea yeah.
So is it safe to assume that NNI is unpuggable and requires 6 pretty skilled players to almost even win?
I'm leaning towards yes.
Last run I felt like it just wanted us to lose.
What the fuck at eliminate specified enemies, then 7+ flans. Then chariots.
First run we messed up a bit, second run was 13 jumps, third run was 16 jumps. 100's doable with a group of skilled players, but less of a margin of error than before.
I still like the event, but I swear the last two runs have felt like Tanaka rage directed at us.
