Little by little i'm starting to get excited for this game... and interestingly enough, they have yet to say a single word about Desmond's story, and whether or not it will be concluded in this installment.
I mean, do we need cliffhanger endings like in Brotherhood to get some info about Desmond? =/
Tbh I personally don't give a shit about Desmond. I never found his personal story all that interesting and them fleshing him out is worse than waiting for Planet Namek to explode in 5 minutes.
Regardless, the whole point of the series is to get us to a conclusion on his storyline. Otherwise what's the point of introducing new characters, if not to drive the present storyline further? I personally think that although his storyline is taking a while, I do enjoy every installment where you finally get to control him, and the excitement of finally getting some new piece of information is rewarding enough for me to keep caring, regardless of how long it takes.
It's not, say, SORA'S storyline in KH, where no one knows WTF is going on anymore unless you own all 5 consoles(seriously, wtf) the series is spread across.
I'm saying, I personally don't give a shit about Desmond not that he's not relevant to the story.
The first person part of Revelations was dumb though. Would have rather had a cutscene. Even if it was just illustrated pictures as a slide show.
While it's not the "meat" of the game, I personally do enjoy the Desmond segments. Even though the majority of the game is played through the person being controlled in the Animus, Desmond's story is interesting, and always has me wondering wtf is going to happen. I'm usually disappointed at how little interaction there is with the present scenes we play in.
Desmond's story went to hell the instant Lucy's actress left. Non-sensical retcons? Gods? Shitty Portal ripoff minigame to learn some last-minute written backstory? It's completely beyond saving at this point.
Well they did kill her, seeing as how Lucy was a Templar. I didn't see the point of keeping her around for Revelations when her character has already passed away. Sure, they could've actually TOLD you that she was a double agent, rather than make you come to that conclusion yourself, but nonetheless there would be no point in bringing her in anyways, so it ended up closing that part nicely.
The 1st person minigame shit interface? It was whatever, I just ran through it for the story, could've dealt with it if it was simply in the database or something too without the stupid running around.
Lucy was a Templar..? Did I forget something??
Felt more like a cop-out because they lost her VA but I was suspicious of her motives in the first game anyway so it didn't really phase me.
I didn't really see it as a copout. It's not like her character was some iconic figure. They could have easily replaced her voice actor and I imagine half the audience wouldn't have noticed. She had, what, 30 minutes of dialogue across all games? Ezio would be a different story.

her wiki page explains it pretty well.
But there were more than enough clues suggesting she was a double agent mole... throughout all 3 games she was in.
Well, if they lost her VA, that also means they lost her character model -- Kristen Bell did both.
When did this come up in the game, cause it still seems like a retcon -- especially since she showed up blue when Desmond gained Eagle Vision at the end of the first game (amongst other things).
Did did a lot of hints throughout the game, including email essages when hacking her email.
The first game estabilished that Lucy was on the Assassins' side and the second and third games only cemented that fact.
All of her interactions with the Assassins, including Desmond's father were decidedly genuine - if she was intended to be a reverse reverse mole they failed spectacularly at portraying her as such.
While it's true that one can just accept that she was part of an elaborate plan of the Templars in order to have the Assassins do all the work for them and Lucy was an amazingly effective spy, it's much more logical to assume that she was originally intended to be the female protagonist, then her VA and character model left and her role had to be retconned in order to write her out of the story while attempting to make the most sense possible with what was left.
I think the only way you would have inkling about Lucy being a templar would be if you did all the Subject 16 puzzles. Supposedly he left hints about not trusting Lucy. I wouldn't know because I couldn't be bothered to do the puzzles, but this is what wiki tells me!
