Disagreeing that Feudal Japan would suck. Total War: Shogun 2 has some awesome animated cutscenes about Ninjas attempting (and either failing or succeeding) in assassination and sabotage attempts. I'd love to see a protagonist either working with shinobi behind the scenes, or working against them and samurai to assasinate a Daimyo or even the Shogun himself. Dealing with Metsuke, Geisha, Samurai, Ronin, and Shinobi would pretty boss, even if you would probably spend much of your time killing simple Ashigaru.

except all the assassin's have to be desmonds ancestors and that doesn't fit whatsoever into the story arch

His ancestors so far are middle eastern, Italian, and Native American. It doesn't take long to essentially breed out a racial ethnicity.

Case in point, I'm half Asian and half white. As early as 100 years ago my ancestor was British, and I look Hispanic.

could have an asian ancestor, thats certainly plausible. however an asian ancestor actually in japan? that's far more unlikely. natural progression from europe to the americas makes sense. from europe to americas to asia? not so much

Well, I thought Assassins Creed III was going to rap up the story of Desmond, doesn't discount future games (With a different lead) being in a totally different part of the world

I did forgot they said this would end Desmond's story, though. Also, I forget, but did they say that 16 was related to Desmond? Maybe a new game would show his time in the animus/going crazy.

I don't see why Japan would suck. However; China would be better - and far more plausible, considering they already have a protagonist for China set up.

I do agree WW2 would be somewhat boring, and I never liked the idea for Egypt. I do seem to remember people claiming Egypt was already decided though, but I never remember anyone stating sources for that. It does make sense to have a story set up in Egypt though, since Altaïr sent his children to Egypt. A lot of Ezio's "Brotherhood Assassination Missions" takes place in Egypt too.

Also; they claim that Desmond's story is done after AC3, so I believe it would be rather easy to introduce characters from Asia with a new main character. Whether AC3 includes eventual extra games like Brotherhood and Revelations I don't know, though. Technically it could be three more games until they're done with Desmond's story, as Brotherhood and Revelations were still part of Assassin's Creed 2.

Wow, that trailer looked great. The game looks so much more fluid and non-stop than the other ones (although actually playing it probably won't be as fluid..). Only thing that would have made it better would have been if he had actually fought the bear~
