For the past few months, we’ve been hearing rumors of a possible confirmation of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Most notably we have heard from an Amazon France website which caused a small stir of events between GameBlog and Activision as well as Activision purchasing the Black Ops 2 domain.
However, recent sources we’ve received from a GameStop employee may have given us a new view on what this new Call of Duty title may actually be. This employee captured a GameStop tower display which seems to be the same “Return For Debriefing” image captured yesterday, though with additional details. Now, I want you to quickly compare the two leaked images.

Now, both images have the announcement telling us to “Return For Debriefing” on May 2nd, however I’m very curious to what the image we received could possibly mean. Sources from this GameStop employee also mentioned to us of numerous marketing materials saying “Activision Project” and “Coming Soon.” Also, in the Marketing Book under title releases coming soon, the game was referenced as “Call of Duty: Eclipse” instead of Black Ops 2 or even the usual “Upcoming Title” filler for games that haven’t been announced to the public yet. With this info, I could imagine the image basically with “Eclipse” part being the title of the game and “Multi” possibly just meaning it’ll be on multiple platforms.
I really wanted to focus on what Eclipse could possibly mean, besides the Twilight series. So I went to check out Webster Definition online. From what I can tell, we already know the eclipse of the sun and moon obviously which I’ll get to in a moment. Though the definition has also been defined as a decline of some obscurity. This could possibly relate to Black Ops’ campaign ending where Mason, Hudson and Weaver were targeted for their connection with the JFK assassination by the CIA in Operation Charbydis, terminating themselves from the CIA as they expect some hardships coming up. Though as you can tell from Treyarch’s history with Call of Duty, they aren’t the type of company to make sequels (first Call of Duty: World At War in 2008, then Call of Duty: Black Ops in 2010.)
This doesn’t mean Call of Duty will officially be titled “Eclipse” instead of “Black Ops 2.” The boxes with the words “Eclipse Multi” could also have some reference to Call of Duty: Black Ops’ Zombie mode. Why would you say this? If you recall on the Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombie DLC Map Shangri-La, there is an Easter Egg that which, with four players and done correctly, can cause an Eclipse in the sky allowing you to eventually acquire the Focusing Stone giving that one player all of the perks available for the rest of the game as well as an achievement for all and more!
These are just some opinions I came up with. We’ll more than likely know the official answer when we get debriefed on May 2nd. You guys are more than welcomed to leave your opinions below!

One of our very own Gamerplex staff members recently visited a GameStop store to check up on the recent rumors relating to the upcoming Call of Duty. The employee they spoke with did confirm to us that they did receive Call of Duty materials from Activision with the “Eclipse” labeled over them. He also confirmed to us that Activision will be making an announcement on May 2nd about Call of Duty, however this is no release date as more than likely will be the first trailer for the upcoming Call of Duty. Having all of this material though, the employees do not know what to do with them as they received no further instructions from corporate.
Be sure to stay tune as we will be updating you with the latest Call of Duty information.
