IT'S THE ONLY WAY TO BE SURE.
yes, just send me a poke and Ill get you the IP and password
anyone on BG is welcome, were kinda holding off on inviting all the friends though since the last friends griefed a bunch of shit
they really need to work on progression in this game
*mining deeply into a planet is slow, dangerous, and pointless. there is literally no point in doing anything but pillaging the surface of a planet and immediately forgetting it ever existed.
*having essentially everything dictated by crafting stations is really boring. make a table, craft the boss, get his part, make a new table, craft the new boss, get his part, etc.
*weapons look exactly the same from sector to sector.
on a side note, they had a good thing going with the matter manipulator, they need to ditch the picks, axes, and hoes and just let you upgrade that.
and for the love of god just make it down to drop off a platform instead of space+down
Ya i agree, Hopfully they are taking all the feedback and sorting the bad from the good. I mean, this is early beta. I'm not gonna pass judgement yet.
No. Not yet obviously. I'm sure it was discussed by one of the devs that they plan on doing something about that.
from what it sounds like there will be a wipe of character data. that being said Ill keep the world server up for a little bit then wipe it clean as well so we can start completely fresh with new everything.
I haven't found any sources to confirm that (though I only checked the front page) but it wouldn't be surprising due to being it's first beta stage. Either way sounds good.
Yeah, as I mentioned a couple of days ago there will be a required character wipe. The update today is completely restructuring the way that weapons, armor, and monster stats work and interact, as well as the way that planet and monster difficulty is displayed. There will also be planet generation changes that change ore distribution and make it more effective to dig deeper into a planet, increasing the amount or rarer ores that you find and making the monsters stronger the deeper you go. Existing characters cannot be ported over to this new format.
You're right, I just found it in the update post. Hopefully they add a few missing tiers to. I noticed the next step up from a copper pick was silver instead of iron when I was looking through my craft records.
I will miss the tech I found though. I can say that much.
literally my first kill dropped an uncommon spear that shoots balls of energy or something, was pretty neat. RIP spear
do weapons break in this game? had a hammer weapon that vaporized itself without indicating it was breaking, and i seem to have found a planet with no temples walked 20 mins left then warped back to the ship beamed back down, walked 30 mins to the right no temple so i'm stuck at 1 1/2 silver ingots![]()
I had my platinum pickaxe disappear so I assume it broke... but tools have a durability indicator where as weapons don't, right?
Oh boy, so I can get more platinum in alpha sector that I can't use at all until gamma because I don't have a special enough table. I really hate how this works, you are always forced to be in this narrow band of acceptable strength for each sector. There are no amazing pieces of equipment, there is no payoff to putting in more than the minimum.
And that doesn't solve the "planets are disposable sacks of ore" problem, it just lowers the turnover rate. Let me do something to a planet besides being a parasite. Give me a reason to actually make a home base instead of going full hoarder on my ship.
Had some interesting conversations on a friend's server and we rolled into a tangent about space PvP a la Faster Than Light. I about creamed. If they can do something like that I would be content.
Also really need to lock spaceship doors for "Friends" that beam up in order to reduce the inevitable griefing that would occur.
it's a tiered progression system, that's generally how these types of games work. there is "special" loot, but you can't simply craft most of it; it comes from bosses, rare monsters, and chests. that's where exploring the depths of a planet pays off. you can't craft a sword with fire or poison damage attached, or any type of gun. you need to find those. Outside of that, there's plenty more content coming, like quests and the like. We're still in early access beta phase at the moment.
