So, I promised I was going to let you know what I decided. I've spent the last few days considering pros and cons and I think I'm going to take the easier job in the city.

Now, before you start saying I'm taking the easy way out, here is my reasoning:
The sole reason why I switched careers, started working in a restaurant and took sommelier classes was my health (I had pulmonary embolism, I have a blood condition that makes it clot, thus i need to either move a ton or medicate). I wanted to give myself a long lasting career where I can move a lot for as long as I can, and at the same time something I can work with when I no longer can run around like mad.

I pictured what I'd be doing ten years from now, if all went well. If I took the hard job, I'd be as far as I could get without jeopardizing my health from the start, once I learned what to do there would be absolutely nowhere I could develop. I'd be working with things I enjoy, but even that gets old when you do the same things day after day and see no end to it. I could switch restaurants, but that would be about it. If I take the easier job, I can advance slowly, while working at a place I really like and if I don't like, it's still a nice merit and it will make it easier for me to seek other jobs. In ten years I could be working with the same tasks the hard job offers, without having to move or stress or be bored after couple of years.

Btw, I rewrote the reference letter and e-mailed it to my boss. I wrote that the numbers in my birthday got mixed up and that while I was at it I took the liberty to change the pronouns as well. I thought it was a pretty polite way to say it was horrible and I needed a new one. It doesn't take a minute to print it out and sign it. My boss has been at work two days. I'm still waiting.

Thanks for the update Luci - I think that opportunity for long-term growth is a very good reason to choose which offer to take. Congratulations, and my best to you there!

Thanks. I really feel I made the right decision. I kept looking at it from the perspective of a possible failure and fear, twisting it around really made me realize it wasn't the ultimate option after all.

I had warfarin pills and klexan injections, because my warfarin levels were too low for over a month, I had troubles with the doses. They didn't really offer me anything else at that time, and both of those were extremely horrible. I was bruised and looked like a junkie, I couldn't travel freely, drink alcohol, eat lettuce and I was bleeding randomly. I sincerely hope that when I'm too old to move there will be other options out there.
