The code name system already covers virtually everything "achievement" worthy (and a lot of stuff that isn't...turtle, anyone?).

It would make sense tho if they just integrated the code names into achievements as well rather than just adding a bunch of largely frivolous stuff.

MGS4 Trophy patch is now live...
Can do a full install of the game (Well more like, it combines all the installs. The game data is around 9GB)
Removes MGO from the Menu
oh and yea...adds Trophies...

Patch itself is 512(?)MB

I haven't played MGS 4 since it was released...and now that I don't have to deal with installing each act over and over again, along with the addition of trophies, I'll definitely be going back to platinum this thing.

I didn't think they would realistically do it...it's been 4(?) years...

I already played this game to hell and got all the titles. But this just gives me an excuse to play it again! Been down and out....watching MGS clips on youtube for the past few weeks.

I know they closed mgo couple of month ago but i'm still sad to see it gone from the menu had a lot of fun with that game

Aaaaand my copy is at my brother's place.........which I was at two days ago. Didn't think the patch would be out this early in the month.

I find it a shame they couldn't relegate MGO to a friends-invite mode, so you could at least still arrange get-togethers without the need of a master lobby server.

Btw if they ever make an online component to a mgs i hope they drop the konami id, that shit was horrible it was one of the reason why i stop playing online

To those that though the list was easy guess again, u will have to get all emblems(so yes the boss run >.<) so minimum u need 8 playthrough to get platinum.

According to the tentative roadmap on PS3T, nothing is retroactive, and it has to be a clean save.

I'm probably going to wait a week or two anyways before I grab my copy, hope all the details are ironed out by then. A shame they didn't add a cutscene-skip option for subsequent playthroughs in this patch.

I just finished MGS4 for the first time the other day..
that bit with snake... in the graveyard.. with the 1 bullet..
my heart dropped..

then they went and twisted the fucking plot AGAIN.. what was all that shit.. snakes Foxdie wont kill anyone? Ocelot was never actually Liquid? Killing an old man in a wheel chair actually matters?
wtf Hideo. where's the game? where's my torture scene that affects the ending? WHY WOULD I ACTUALLY CRAWL THROUGH A MICROWAVE WHEN I ACTUALLY DONT NEED TO BE IN THE SERVER ROOM ANYWAY
I just.. I love these games, but 4 felt empty.. there were only a few moments that made me "WOO!" but that was just nostalgia..

Snakes Foxdie wasn't exactly meant to kill every random person anyway. It was programmed to kill specific people.
Was extremely glad that Ocelot wasn't Liquid. Liquid had his time, always felt more of a connection with Ocelot. Was great to see him get a good send off.
Killing Zero was just a way of showing that the Patriots are finally over. As if Jack kept him alive just so he could see the downfall of his creation.
There has only been one torture scene that effected the ending...out of like 6-7 games. Would've been ticked if we got two options of an ending. Glad we got something solid.
If he didn't crawl through the microwave The MK. II would've been rapped by the lil black things...can't recall their names.

why did ocelot do that again though? he was a patriot anyway, why would he need to impersonate liquid?
and why did he go through all that shit, just to be defeated anyway? if he wanted to destory the system, why not just go inside as ocelot and do it?
I really need to spend a few hours on the wiki..

so i kind of "started" MGS4 tonight (i prepaid the game, i just never got past act 2 for whatever reason... when the trophy patch showed up i said fuck it i need to play this & erased all my saves). without really spoiling the story for myself i've been looking at the trophies, i like to platinum things if i can, but i sort of hate going insane over things (just hit 1550 in fallout 3 on 360 last night, and i didn't think that was unreasonable, even though it took me 3 years haha). is platinum as insane as it looks? - and is the trophy "Flashback Mania" as shitty as it appears to be? it almost feels like some of Assassin's Creed's trophies on steroids - and i don't mean difficulty, i mean in the missable-sense when you are Desmond. another talk for another thread though.

i realize there's a big argument over whether trophies/achievements are cool or not, i'm not trying to start that (i like them, but i know when enough is enough, so what). i'm just trying to ask people who probably played MGS4 multiple times what their thoughts are on the new trophies, as i'm basically a complete rookie to this game (and i love the series, i'm just a slacker). thanks.

edit: ok honestly, half drunk i looked at a trophy list real quick and then posted this, i didn't realize there were a few more that people thought were worse than the one i mentioned. "oh great" - i guess i am just looking on a discussion in general on the trophies to this game. i figure tomorrow i'll just load up my save and play through it once without worrying about what i missed. from what i can tell, this game is a real fucker when it comes to needing multiple playthroughs.

The only one I don't like is the Ipod song one, it requires you to get every emblem in the game which is many play throughs and is easy to fuck up. The rest are pretty easy otherwise.

If you haven't beaten the game, getting Flashback mania will be cake. Since you'll be watching all the Cutscenes anyways, And just get a guide for Shadow Moses so you don't miss the ones there.
