Assuming the weapons are appropriately rare (i.e. like one of each type of weapon total in all the dog tags they make), this really isn't any different than a mog bonanza in terms of likely impact on the game, only difference is that it's JP onry.

If 70 USD got me 10 dogtags and 10 chances at a "free" mythic or glowy vw item, id do it in a heartbeat, and any of you would too, and im fuckin jobless now. Because the time spent killing a vw nm 200x over toget nothing pales in comparisant to the time youd spen making 70 bucks.

I don't think you can partake unless you actually go to the Vanafest and buy the items there so many JP are going to be rightfully annoyed that they're missing out on 'potentially' getting pulse gear or relics for a couple bucks. It's also a pretty hard slap to everyone grinding out Pil/Rex/Akvan #556 that these items could potentially get RMT'd out by any mook with 7 bucks to spare.

Given SE's talents with handling their base, I'm sure an ill timed cash shop debut will likely send nerds into a violent frenzy. I'd love to be wrong though and hear about more Abyssea but the worst path is usually the SE path.

What it really likely ends up being is most people wind up with worthless moogle items (that they paid for), a few people get a pulse body and one or two lucky sobs get a relic/mythic/99emp. That reality can't and won't stop SE from running headlong into another PR nightmare though. I'm sure this culminates in the community reps being forced to give away some items on the test server to shut everyone up or some twitter action that awards someone with a relic if they can correctly guess how many marbles can fit in Cid's voidcrotch.

A classic event for VanaFest in Japan, attendees will be able to try their luck at special capsule machines to get one of six limited edition dog-tags. They will also come with a code for an in-game item. One very lucky attendee might just find themselves with an extremely rare drop! (500 yen per play)

The EX rare item will be a Moogle Suit that dispenses one 99-2 Relic/Emp/Mythic at random every 7 days. There's gotta be more than one capsule machine. Or a limit to the number of tries you get. I can imagine 2k sweaty Japanese nerds standing in a line with socks full of 500 yen coins planning to just feed the machine until they get a tag.
