Looks a bit like Prontera, from RO.

Do you guys simply need to know what to change the path to or is there just not a way to change it?
i ran into problems because my laptop is 64bit and pathing is different.
managed to get it to run on my mac lol. problem there tho is that EWH doesn't seem to read past a certain rom file number, so you need to do some clever file name substitution..
very interesting.
will take some screenies and post em up with comments and all
Have fun. EWH controls so horribly I don't know why the dev didn't just do WASD+Mouse fly-over instead. I get fed up pretty quickly just trying to position the damn camera right for a decent shot.
Granted I'm surprised no one else has written a decent zone viewer (there's another one I know of, but it's even more barebones). Would be nice to have one integrated into POLUtils since that's open source now.
That Prontera pic just made me update and play RO.
Too much optimism in here, we need a doomsday prophet ASAP.
Now, now, let's not confuse doomsday with justified cynicism.
Anyway, as much as potential new zones could be interesting, it's what they do with them that counts. Otherwise, they're released, full for a bit, then ghost towns once their content is exhausted or deemed useless.
These past few pages made me realize that I would never resub if I could just travel through all the zones just like the live game (properly connected and with music of course) That's all I miss anyways..
far-west, far-east (tough I would like far-east more) who cares, as long as we get a full expansion!
ok i did a full post on what i saw..
clicky clicky
will post to bgblogs in a bit once i get the pics sorted
Thanks for that.
Nice job. Seems you got more patience than I do when it comes to holding page-up.
I'm curious what the purpose of the cave would be. My guess is the open barren lands connects to it somehow, or possibly the jungle zone (it has a couple 'tunnels to dead-ends' like we have in existing FFXI), and passageway to this possible expansion is via the dock in the town.
Just trying to think of a means of getting there besides re-purposing Selbina (since Mhaura already covers ToA) for a second boat to there. I'd say Kazham, but SE tends to not want to intermingle expansion packs.
The building area with ramps of stairs feels like a place intended to be only viewed from the front, or in CS only. That's usually what they do and make higher parts with only the side you will see, and the far bits are low res looking crap.
The way to get EWH to view zones that aren't hardcoded into it, are you go into it's list, and change it to put in your own custom data files. Just use its same format it goes with in the list. Then save it and try. Some versions of EWH won't let you change the list, forgot which version does. A good way to look for zone files are to simply arrange by size (and date modified here helps). Bigger files like 6-20mb are usually zones. But there are some cases where little BC arenas can make for a small file size still, like 1~5mb.
This is stuff is kind of neat I guess, but little too late to start making some fucking new content for your game square. Coulda used that 5 years ago instead of Wings.
I'd think a boat ride would be pretty iconic for a way to travel anywhere...
Kazham or Norg is actually the best bet since its the furthest south.
if i wouldn't know better tho, I'd think they'd create a boat ride in windurst waters (assuming its to the mithran south) because of their ties with the nation.
The tunnels under the jungles definitely look like they link to the tunnel zone.. which probably serves as another means of linking the 2 zones together...
Kaisha> holding down Ctrl speeds up anything you do by a ton lol. I'm mostly using Del to zoom out, then swiveling the camera with my mouse. For the guy to move faster, you can set him to run, then hold down Ctrl and move him and it'll be really fast.
Would make sense, as it'd be a pain in the ass to run up/down those ramps on a regular basis. It could be blocked off by guards or something. Kinda like Whitegate's palace interior, although that required a zone change, rather than visible from outside.
The appe won't read from rom9 folder via the list. Or at least not on my end for some reason, as it worked fine when I manually added Provenance to it a couple months ago. Hex editor shows it goes up to ROM5 as far as seeking stuff goes, so I had to substitute. The way to get EWH to view zones that aren't hardcoded into it, are you go into it's list, and change it to put in your own custom data files. Windurst might work if they can be arsed to rework the zone to accomodate it (it kinda already has an airship). Norg would be cool but I doubt that since the nature of that place. Kazham still has that one section an NPC is blocking off that leads to a tunnel or somethingother.
Never thought to combine ctrl with the camera functions, thanks.Kaisha> holding down Ctrl speeds up anything you do by a ton lol. quite cool that you managed to catch that Gwyn..
it doesn't look like you're supposed to be able to scale to the top of the slope because theres like a gaping hole between the ground and the front of the building.
if theres a zone for that you can probably just talk to guards somewhere further down from the area.. maybe just after the gateway
edit: the viewer wont read rom9 for me either, so i just renamed the folder to rom5 temporarily and updated the lists according to that
Well, it's using the San d'Oria church at the top as a place holder no? I feel that zone is less developed than the other one, hence the cracks in the terrain and other bits.
