I've said it before and I'll say it again, give me a light avatar that isn't Carbuncle(Turned out to be Cait Sith) and I will be happy. I pretty much gave up on everything else.
That said, even after all the disappointment and suffering, I would still buy another expansion. My friends openly mock me for still playing this game, but I've put this much into it, I might as well see it through to the bitter end.
I mean hell, I even went to two Vana-Fests.
i was under the impression we'd just spam this thread lol as things got updated.
i'd totally be watching the live stream and following twitter tho.. so maybe in between major things id tab over to type or something lol.
one thing that really impresses me about WotG now is that it seems all the campaign generals and freelances had amazingly detailed backstories about them. the fact that a number of theories of where an expansion might be is based on much of this information is incredible to me..
that said, i really liked the campaign battle hierarchies. it was handled very realistically and a ffxi fan who might also be a war buff would be taken in by the depth of the history involved..
anyway.. i feel like i should go check out more of this Davilles elvaan npc, Achtelle, the mithrans and so on to see if there's been more info about these places we never really noticed
Tarage> i think i know the feeling. other than the fact that i've really put in so much time in this game.. its really grown up with me. i barely play these days (tho im subbed) but i still hope to see the game flourish and the community come alive again.. and its exciting because a revival is actually possible in a genre like this.
i'd bet Cait Sith is gonna come a lot sooner than any expansion. can't wait for my new pussy
Did they actually say Cait Sith is Light-based? Could just as easily be yet another Dark-based summon.
Also throw in another vote for "I don't care about Tavnazia". There's really not much to learn about it we don't already know, and I must be the only person that thinks CoP is ridiculously overrated by the playerbase.
I'd think so too. The caits are essentially tears of altana, who is light based lol, so you'd kinda expect them to be as well
Well, if it is an expansion, then they've likely already trademarked a title long ago. But people have checked recently, and nothing particularly relevant has shown up. The only title SE has trademarked that fits the typical expansion naming scheme (Rise of the Zilart, Chains of Promathia, Treasures of Aht Urghan, Wings of the Goddess) would be Blood of Chaos. However, that could easily be related to Blood of Bahamut, or something new entirely.
Though Chaos would be a nice throwback to FF1, if that were the expansion title (if there even is one). Go go time-loops, temple of fiends, and Garland knocking us all down.
I'm thinking that they might be holding that off to keep it a secret.
If its something that's like really unique in name like ToA they can always put off filing until the last minute because it's not likely to get any disputes and would just be rote paperwork.
Technically the Cait you fight is male...
But if Cait Sith does turn out to be something not light I think I'll just quit.
Dammit you beat me to "What if its non-elemental?". Would be interesting if the ??? attacks where based on something like Vanaday and/or Moon, and would fit right in with the other Avatar's being more powerful at certain times than others.
If that happened I would be a sad panda.
Seriously, just give me a light avatar that doesn't suck. That's all I ask.
We are definitely getting Cait Sith, which Spira confirmed is light based.
As far as "ungimp" you have to wait for the BALANCE!
Frankly I don't think it was an accident, and the devs were probably lol'ing that it took the community so long to find. I mean this is the same community time and again scours dats and found things added to the game before they were discovered in the game. It's not like they made any effort to hide it; in fact, they actually made it readily apparent by having an entirely new ROM9 folder for the content.
Someone above mentioned trademarks - I find it extremely unlikely that SE will come out with a full announcement (title and all) until the trademarks are in place. They may show images or indicate that something is in the works, but there's no new trademark for anything that might be an FFXI expansion except for the aforementioned Blood of Chaos, so I don't see how they can do a full reveal unless the trademark is pending as we speak (I just checked again and the only new SE trademark was some tech demo they did a couple weeks back called Agni's Philosophy). Considering they are having a Vana'fest this year (after missing last year), and they are clearly working on something, it seems fairly obvious to me that there will be some sort of announcement this week... whether a full reveal or just a teaser is pretty much irrelevant, as I think most people will just be satisfied with the confirmation that something is coming, especially if there's a release date or timeframe attached to that announcement.
If I remember correctly, didn't SE file trademarks for the Abyssea expansions a few days before Vanafest 2010?
Is anyone else excited to hear what new music these zones could have? I'm not sure what style the Mithran homeland would be, though.
