but considering we already know the names of all the regions in Vana'diel unlike in the past...its gonna have to be very obscure in order for it to slip by us, especially if it has a region or lore name involved.

i'm looking forward to new tracks from naoshi mizuta for sure.. his craft has improved tremendously over the years and WotG was some of his best work in FFXI. since then we've only heard like 2 new area tracks, but a whole lot of battle ones.. i like his style for zone music

I found that googling "vanadiel map", do we know any names for those continents or whatever? They can make a name for it, title it on that, and no ones the wiser.

I'm pretty sure WoTG namedropped the Mithran homeland (Lehko mentions it and one other location briefly which I can't recall the names of, was part of the final WinD[S] CS I believe).

I can't recall if Tenzen ever said the name of the place in the Far East he came from, or if ToA made mention of it. Been so long.

northern continent is Rhazowa, southern is Olzhirya and west is Ulbuka.

for islands, we know of..

Zhwa, Garhada and Tsahya to the south
Adoulin to the west

in the south, the capital city is Yhoh and the mithran nation is called the Gha Naboh Matriarchate
the far east is the only continent that doesnt have a name lol, tho a part of it is likely joined with the Near East continent of Aradjiah..

Frankly I don't think it was an accident, and the devs were probably lol'ing that it took the community so long to find. I mean this is the same community time and again scours dats and found things added to the game before they were discovered in the game. It's not like they made any effort to hide it; in fact, they actually made it readily apparent by having an entirely new ROM9 folder for the content.

Someone above mentioned trademarks - I find it extremely unlikely that SE will come out with a full announcement (title and all) until the trademarks are in place. They may show images or indicate that something is in the works, but there's no new trademark for anything that might be an FFXI expansion except for the aforementioned Blood of Chaos, so I don't see how they can do a full reveal unless the trademark is pending as we speak (I just checked again and the only new SE trademark was some tech demo they did a couple weeks back called Agni's Philosophy). Considering they are having a Vana'fest this year (after missing last year), and they are clearly working on something, it seems fairly obvious to me that there will be some sort of announcement this week... whether a full reveal or just a teaser is pretty much irrelevant, as I think most people will just be satisfied with the confirmation that something is coming, especially if there's a release date or timeframe attached to that announcement.

Actually, if it had been any other ROM, the chances of us finding them would have been exceedingly slim. But in case it wasn't planned, sorry Community Team guys. If however it was intentional and now we are chomping at the bit waiting for news, any news to come up and nearly everyone is going to be glued to their computers at 4AM watching Vana'fest, you are welcome and there are several ways that I can be thanked. If I'm not reading it wrong a PT of 6 will be made up of WAR MNK WHM BLM RDM THF 99 with no subjob and no items usage, tho empyrean armor is allowed/given?
15 min, 5 levels with first being easiest and last hardest...
Lion > Prishe > Aphmau > Lilisette > ???

That would be great. Maybe it's the hidden silhouette? At first I thought it was a generic female Hume considering your gender is changed in there but maybe not... And it comes before the Dev Talk session so they'd be hinting at the expansion and then announce it.

It could possibly be Mumor, silhouetted from behind. The outfit kind of looks like a swimsuit- look at the dangly garter on the leg and the gloves. Or it may just be a generic Hume female model if all of the characters that play in the BC are female.

I'm curious if whoever dug up these new zone files has found them all? Can you be sure because of the way the files are sorted, or because the files added on update were so few? I can't check because I'm no longer subbed.

One method to check to be sure is to find all files (assuming it's not some insanely high amount) that were added the date of that server update. Then you simply make a custom EWH zone list and add every single new data file the update added. Then open EWH and scroll through the zones at a liesurely pace until something shows up. (Trying to open a file that isn't a zone shouldn't crash EWH, it just won't show anything).

That's how I found about the Last Stand zone, and plus sometimes there's weird "pieces" of junked zone stuff for kicks.

There are only two folders in ROM9, so it wasn't hard to check all of the dats manually.

I actually was thinking about making a PHP script that goes through all of the files to check their size and when they were last updated to see if any zones were changed/added. Of course, some of the item dats would be large enough to trip that test, but we know where those live so they can be filtered.
