His article simply was the very first one I found while searching. I stated this was ONE incident. If I continued to bring up bad ATL fan experiences I've had with that fanbase, across all sports, then THAT would be trolling IMO, so I avoided it.

Where there is smoke, there is fire. I GUARANTEE you Atlanta has vastly more articles / critics about it being the absolute worst sports city in America than any other city in America with major sports franchises. Dan Patrick / Cowherd are two that bring it up ALL the time as radio heads.

As a quick example, I just randomly typed in my home city in Google, and ATL popped up LOL:

Miami is a bad sports city ala San Diego because they have too many entertainment venues compared to football. ATL doesn't have shit and they still don't people in the seats.

Lets see, $100 for a solid ticket and $7 per beer at the stadium
    OR
$3 per beer at the beach, sand, girls in bikinis, AND the game on

Rams get more bodies in the seats with a considerable population decrease in comparison to ATL.

The Rams at least get fans to the game when their team is good. The Falcons/Hawks/Braves don't get fans to the games with their team is good or bad.

To anyone thinking their team's fanbase is bad and hasn't been to ATL, you are wrong. Go and find out for yourselves.

You keep saying San Diego has too many venues what are you talking about exactly? the beach? you think the beach is full in the winter/fall when the NFL is played? It prolly has more to do with their stadium being god awful and old as fuck, they've been begging for a new stadium there for years and the ownership there kinda sucks.

I had traditionally always heard Philly was one of the worst

I read that Rob Parker article a second time(I read it when he first posted it), so I think you should read the article I linked a few posts up. I'm still curious to hear your thoughts on it.

@Moss: I will read it tonight and reply.

@Tweek: My point was I searched for articles about Nashville being a bad sports city, and all that came up were Toronto and Atlanta articles....lol. There will always be 1 or 2 per city, but Atlanta has literally HUNDREDS of them written over the years.

Nah even when they had a competitive team in 2010 and were definitely in the chase for the NFC West, ended up going to the Chiefs/Rams game in the Edward Jones Dome. It was literally 90% Chiefs fans and the 10% for the Rams were completely lifeless. We call that place Arrowhead East for a reason.

They are really shitty fans and fuck baseball/hockey.

I don't care if they were in a playoff race one of those years. The Rams have been basically the worst team in the NFL over the last 5 years.

Find attendance numbers during the Kurt Warner days and then compare those to ATL teams who were extraordinary as well. ATL will have lower numbers. Also, take into account St. Louis isn't even in the top 50 populated cities in America while ATL is and has exponential growth.

St. Louis baseball fanbase vs. ATL fanbase - enough said. It isn't even remotely close.

This argument is about the cities as a sports fanbase, not just the NFL.

Also, my original argument didn't say they were bad fans because they didn't show up; I said they were bad fans because they were ignorant as shit, and the majority of them are. I have been to very many games in the city, and what I take away from it is always the same. It is the only sports city where the ignorance of the fan base overshadows the actual content on the field and has me walking about thinking more about the crowd than the actual game which just took place. Its really astonishing and it would be interesting to document it on tape, actually.

The only similar experience I have had was at a Giants game in NY. They didn't do anything stupid or wrong so to say, but they didn't seem to actually pay attention to the game to begin with. Almost every fan in our area was just chatting and carrying on conversations unrelated to the game. Maybe it was just that day as Yankees fans seem to very much be into the game when I was at that stadium. When their team scored they just sat and clapped, no standing up, cheering, high-fiving, etc.

Very many, a whole lot, bunch of, more than a handful, too many to count, shit-ton. Correct, sir.

    @MOSS:

I read the article. He makes some good defenses for his city. The problem with that being it is "his" city. Any journalist / media member is going to defend his or her city for the most part. I don't think Rob Parker just decided he would attack Atlanta for no good reason when he woke up that morning. He had basis to go off of, whether or not he came across like a jackass in his delivery, which he did. I'm giving him more credit as a neutral party (myself neither NY or ATL fan) as opposed to a homer (ATL writer for some gimp website - he writes well enough, but I cannot even find the writers name; it just looks like a forum thread lol). Rob Parker didn't get a job at ESPN for being clueless in his industry. He wrote the article because ATL happened to be facing NY in the playoffs, and he decided to once again bring light to the fact* that ATL is notorious for having a putrid fan base.

Is Parker really neutral? He wrote that article for espnnewyork.com. He also has a pretty bad reputation in the industry.

I know the guy from the article I posted is a huge homer, I just found the statistics he cited to be interesting.

It simply hasn't been my experience at Falcons games that the fans were any more ignorant than at any other sporting event I have ever been to.
