would it have been different if someone gave him $100? nah he was playing to win I don't feel it was unfair, I don't blame NYG coaches or players for playing dirty they made big plays at the expense of someone else.. that's football.

I feel like I never see QBs getting hit after a handoff unless it's on some end-around shit and they're trying to block. Does that happen often...and is it legal if you're between the neck and the thigh?

one is against the rules hence they need to be punished and I've agreed they need to be punished.. outside of that? There is not much difference, it will remain in the game and will still go on with or without rewards there is nothing that can be done to stop it. you're also being naive if you think the position/special team coaches had not briefed them with the information about his history of concussions incorporating it into their game plan.

I believe he played a total of 1 game under GW and was injured/benched the rest of the time.

I remember a few years ago, Jason Taylor bought copies of all of Tom Brady's in game mic recordings...he managed to decode Tom Brady's snap counts and audibles. Dolphins crushed NE 21-0 that game. No one cared. That's just as bad as spygate, but no one really cared. Do whatever you can to win.

There is a line though between cheap shots and clean hits that knock a guy out of the game.

I think both are bad, but when you institutionalize it, it makes it huge. It becomes one of the main goals and goes beyond clean play. You can go after a QB and try to knock him out of a game in a clean way. Really, you can. I don't think it's right that it's your goal, but you can. When you start having that sort of play and mentality encouraged by the coaches to the point of financial incentives, it goes way beyond clean play. You are pleasing your coaches, you are earning money. You feel a greater need to really put the wood on the other team, and dirty play is what happens. Big hits on D aren't even necessarily about hurting players, it's "he won't think about doing that again" or "I want him flinching in the pocket." Everything should be in the realm of clean.

The 2009 nfc championship shows putting cash bounties institutionalized by coaches causes cheap shots and pretty fucking deplorable play.

Ya, it stretches the rules a little bit, but what you say on the field is public information really. Patriots should not be using the same snap counts constantly.

I just find it wrong to put a hit out on someone whether it's legal or illegal. Intentionally injuring players in not good for the sport. Thankfully it doesn't happen often, but what happens when you start ending the careers of the Tom Bradies, Drew Breeses, Adrian Petersons? We as fans lose. Injuries are a natural part of the game but intentionally trying to get someone carted off is not. These things are also too one-sided. It's the defense's job to tackle the ball carrier. Usually only offensive players are getting hit (exception being ints/fumbles). So it's almost if the defense gets a free pass to do these "hits" knowing that a "hit" can't be legally put on them as the defender.

Also there's the integrity factor. Not just of the league but the teams. How many times have you heard "we would have won if our star qb/rb/wr wasn't hurt." Or "they only beat team abc because player xyz was out." In a perfect world, you would want completely healthy teams competing so there are no excuses at the end of the day. It's bad enough that we have to deal with accidental injuries. Do we really want to increase the amount of injuries with intentional ones? Just my view on it.

Also, getting paid to deliver a late hit to a QB seems a bit like something out of a minor-league hockey team. Maybe if getting flagged negated your bounty or whatever. If you think bounties are OK and shit then why hasn't any of these people stepped up before the Saints got caught and cried and claimed that it shouldn't be against the rules in the first place. Why wait for someone to get busted to get on high horse about it?
