Also, I would happily dump Flacco, last years 20 INT incarnation of Rivers, and 4th quarter Romo for Tebow. Nigga can't throw 90% of the game but it's hard to doubt that he's clutch. Not sure if I'd trade Ponder for him, need to see a bigger body of work out of the kid first.

With a mostly healthy D, particularly Beason, Ron Edwards, and having Keuchly to start for Davis, and the special teams additions I think .500 would actually be a disappointment.

With a middle of the pack D we could have easily been 10-6 last year.

Only thing that could keep us from getting into the plus side on wins I think is a sophomore slump (let's be real, do we expect him to repeat what he did last year?) or injury for Cam. Ya, he's got all the preseason prep this time around, but so do the defenses he's facing in addition to having film on him. I'd rather he didn't have to carry the team again this year.

Edit: 9-7 would make me a happy camper.

It isn't as simple as saying, "ok if our defense was better, each team would have scored 6 fewer points. Now how many wins do we have?" It's going to change the whole complexion of every game. Having Cam play catch-up all the time is going to lead to monster stats (check) and a lot of turnovers (check). Obviously going from 32nd in defense to 16th and maintaining a great offense is going to make a huge difference in W-L. As a Panthers fan, 8-8 or 9-7 would make me happy this year as that is a lot of progress in a short time.

True, but thats like saying "Having Chase Daniel in the game instead of Brees doesnt change the offensive dynamic, whos to say how the game(s) would have played out". To a degree you have to use common sense and assume that it will make a difference, I mean the very argument is hypothetical in nature from the jump. All I know is when we score 33 points and still lose, then that falls on the defense. I mean, where are the cynics that asterisk the Aints for racking up garbage time stats? Hell Jimmy Graham had probably 500 yrds in the 4th quarters of the final 4 games alone. Its a passing league, look no further at how long Marino was the ONLY boss ass QB that put those numbers before everyone made the offense a priority.

This is a much larger issue that little old us, not sure why Carolina keeps coming up as the measuring stick lol. My point was Alex is right about wins being more important, but whats being left out is we sucked because of out last place defense. LAST-PLACE. Our run D was about as sturdy as a sieve in a river, and thats on a good day. I guess that some how falls on the offenses shoulders too? More times than not we were leading in the 4th quarters, then get raped to the tune of 130 yds on 8 carries as the other teams took the lead and gnawed at the clock.

It's just a semantics/hypothetical argument anyway. I watched both Falcons/Panthers games last year so I know all about your defense collapsing in the 4th.
